putting a 146 track on a 144 skid

I have a 2010 800 rmk 144 and was wondering if its possible to put a 146 track on without getting longer rails? Is ther enough adjustment in the wheels to make up for the extra 2"? i know i would have to change the drivers because the track is a different pitch. What is the best track to go with? i see theres the polaris series 5.1 track or the camoplast challenger extreme. i want to go to a 2.5" lug and the 146 would be a nice length.

ya it will work remeber that it will only really be 1 inch longer, you probably have about a inch of ajostment, i would leave it looser then the polaris specs, i would also recomed putting the 9 inch big wheel kit on that will take a little more track, i put a 162 on a 159 skid, with the 9 inch big wheel kit and i have about 1 inch of ajustment left, hope this helps

thanks. i plan on putting some antirachet drives on as well so i can run it a little looser then normal. i guess its technically only 1" longer so there should be enough adjustment.

What are you looking to achieve? Better traction/flotation/track speed etc? If taller lugs is what you're after with minimal cost why not 2.5 CE 144 w/drivers? - keep in mind tunnel clearance. As far as track length, going 144 to 146 is pointless. If your going big, then go big! If ratcheting is the problem try proper tensioning first, if your not happy with that, swap out tracks with 2.00 144 all open windows along with anti-ratchets (recommend anti-stab kit with any anti-ratchet). Despite the hype, stock 2.00 144 track is a pretty good chunk of rubber! Could you use better part of 1G elsewhere? Good wrenching!

would like a taller lug without going long. there is no 144" track in a 2.5" lug so 146 would be my next option. I figured there would be enough adjustment at the rear wheels to make it fit. I realize if i have to change rails that is just a waist of money.

there is a 144" track with 2.5" lugs in a 3.0 pitch challenger extreme on tracks usa. dont know what driver u have now but if u went to a 3.0 pitch driver u could have the deeper lug u r looking for.

hmm not sure how i missed that one. that would be alot easier. the only plus about the 146 is it is a single ply track vs a 2 ply 144. is there enough tunnel clearance for a 2.5: lug?
