Putting 2012 length shocks on a 2013 Pro RMK

I am thinking of trying something here.

I have a 2013 Pro with stock shocks.

Have an opportunity to get some super-duper high end shocks, but they are for a 2012.

I hear that if I put 2012 lower a-arms on my 13, it will work.

Anyone know if this is correct?

And if you actually have some, go here:

Yes they will work. If you do that the shocks will have to have 17" to 17.6" center to center fully extended.

Works well...

At the time of the 2013 Pro Release, There wasn't much out there for a-arm options, and I didn't trust glued a-arms for my wife's sled. I installed a Z-broz front end, and am using correct length Evol R shocks. No complaints here.

Lowers only needed...

Your best bet is to get someone to sell you a stock set of 2011/2012 (OR... 2011-14 standard-RMK) A-Arms at a swinging deal.

Heck... Dragon lowers from a 2009-2010 will fit and you can use your sway bar... lowers from a 2005/2006 900 and 2007/2008 Dragons/RMK's will also fit but you will not be able to use the PRO Swaybar. You will need to re-use your PRO RMK plastic bushings and the PRO RMK Ball Joint.

The ball joint O.D. is the same on Dragons/PRO's... BUT... The I.D. is different (2011+ = 10mm I.D. ..... 2005-2010 = 3/8" I. D. )

The bushings fit from Dragon to PRO/Vice-Versa. .

Or a good deal on a set of aftermarkets..

Anyone out there want to help out ole Scottie??

depending on what shocks they are we can shorten them to work at fastrax, curt would know for sure. probably cheaper then a arms.

Shortening a shock will work, but in the case of a 2012 PRO length to a 2013/14 PRO length... going from a 17.5" to a 16.6" shock... you will loose travel as the compressed length remains the same on the longer shock.

I believe that Andy shortens the cylinder as well so effectively you have a shock identical to the current shock sold by the manufacturer for the 13/14 model on fox's anyway

That's cool... Shorten the shaft and the body rather than a simple shim.

I'll drop Andy an email... I have a box of old shocks at his place now.

It would still be best, IMO, to find a set of lowers for the 2012.

This is what I ended up doing....kee the '13 set of arms and shocks for when the big one happens...

I am amazed you could get a set of Evol's shortened for $100. I was quoted $175 per shock from someone else.
