put a stud through my cooler

so, i put a stud through my cooler and i'm going to patch it up with JB weld industro as a quick fix for the rest of the year. i don't feel like taking the drive shaft and track out right now because after the year this sled is going to need a new track and i plan on fixing it right when there is no more snow to be riden on. has anyone else done this before?

seriosuly? no answer for this? this is what keeps me from becoming a premium member here. i ask a question, come back three days later and still no replies. pathetic.

already used jb weld industro. it seems to be holding just fine(knock on wood) have a trip planned in a week and i hope she holds up. i'll be bringing my spare sled just in case. i will take the drive shaft out this summer when i replace the track and i'll be able fix it correctly.

You might want to check your attitude. I think your age is showing.

1.) If your track is launching studs today, it will happen again soon. The track is failing and is on its way out. Replace it.
2.) I've seen JB Weld do some pretty amazing things. If you can get the surface prepped well it may work for you in the short term. The right answer, as you already know is to weld it.

Another point of interest for you; this is a Mountain Forum. Mountain riders typically don't use studs and are not familiar with your situation. I'm not all surprised no one came to your plea for aid. Sounds like your better suited to a forum like HCS.

I HAD A FRIEND WHO BOUGHT A SKI DOO AND THE PREVIOUS OWNER DRILLED A HOLE THROUGH THE REAR EXCHANGER TRYING TO MOUNT A CARGO RACK. HE JB WELDED IT AND RODE THE REST OF THE SEASON. HIS FIRST ATTEMT SEEPED A LITTLE BUT IT WAS A 5 O CLOCK ON FRIDAY QUICK FIX. CARRY EXTRA ANTIFREEZE JUST IN CASE.

Like jgd said, you may want to check your attitude. You aren't known around here and did ask a flat lander question on a mountain forum, it may take a while for someone else who has dealt with this problem to reply.

Just takes a couple hours of work to get it done right. And good luck.

Well I was gone snowmobiling in Cooke City or I would have replied sooner. We had a sled pick up a rock and poke a hole in the cooler. We fixed it in the parking lot with JB weld 8 years ago and it is still holding and looks has good has when we patched it.

Another forum w/ another name but the same attitude...

There is a lot of good info here with a little less bashing but you have to remember it is called SNOWEST. These are mountain guys so they don't always have the same issues we trail guys do. Tailor your questions to the forum you are in and you should pick up some good info.
