put a order in for a mcx turbo last night, help me out!!

Please tell us more!

I sold my Apex with Alpine kit to Mike Klippenstein who put on a 3" track & it lasted one weekend. I know Maclaren & his group are all running the 2.5...On the other hand there are others that have had success...Worth looking into if you are running 300 plus hp.

If the install is free its still too much if the guy screws it up. Who you going to go to if there is a problem and you got some carnage in the engine? Any dealer thats in the business will look after their mistakes. Whats a guy working out of his garage after hours going to do for you? Also when the time comes to sell that "TNytro" I know if I was looking, one of the first questions I would ask you is "Who did the install?" My initiall install was done by a dealer who's tech had done only MCX kits but was willing to do my PL kit and there were no others that I knew of anywhere close so I went that way. MISTAKE!!! Timing was not done properly but fortunately it caused no harm. Not producing nearly the power it should have. Turbo oil line was pinched and restricted & fuel line was trying to make a 90 and was half restricted in one spot. All this was discovered at the manufacturer when it went back there last summer. Should have gone there in the first place.
Some things I think are worthy of consideration when you are dumping $8+G into your engine. These guys all seem to be fairly confident in the dealer in PC so its likely a good idea.

Just my opinion though.

I can see taking it to someone reputable if you are tearing the engine down for rods and pistons. But if you were only doing the turbo kit with a head shim its not hard to install, just takes some patience and time. I had never worked on a yamaha sled, I had worked on quads and dirtbikes prior to installing my impulse kit and have put about 400 miles on it so far with no problems. Set it up per Pauls recommendation and has been great.

well project is finished, and we had it out finnally last weekend, it took longer than we thought, pistons were on back order, but its done....

running 19lbs boost if you dare to look at the gauge, rips very hard
air/fuel around the 13something and lag was noticalble but not something that was bad, cluching felt ok

we put the 2.5 162 underneath and it seamed to have good tracksion if we could just keep the front end down

snow was setup and heavy and stock suspension, that we thought might handle the hp,(we were told) did not and just crumbeled everytime we open it up.... causing the front end to come up and have no control while climbing or anything for that matter

so i guess now we are looking for the a skid that works, has anyone run the racers edge skid, and whats your thoughts

other thing i felt was the front end was heavy and hard to throw around in the trees, is there a narrowing kit for these machines, it truly would wear on a guy quickly, and last thing was a handle bar riser or a swivel to lift handle bars closer to the front of the machine, stock angle sucks

other than that it pulled hard... thanks

I've rode a few 162 Baker skids and a 174, great skid, all on Nytro's and Apex's. Does everything the M10 does. If I were starting over I would probably go with one. The best part of them is you can always upgrade from 162 to 174 by just changing rails. They bolt into the stock holes, no need for an expensive mounting job.

does this work on the 2010 skids ?? Ive seen quite a few guys just put doo transfer blocks behind the rear scissor on the new skids. seemed to work great for guys running 9 to 14 pounds of boost

I think there are guys tryinmg that, we use to put blocks in Arctic Cat skids to keep the front down, worked good, they didnt have 270 hp tho. Be worth a try.

Sounds like nice build. You might want to upgrade to a better header though. Alpine makes a thicker header with more flow for the mcx kits.

well we had it out this last weekend, and before we went out, we raised rear shock pressure to 175psi, front shock to 75psi and raised limiter strap up two holes, also made to blocks behind rear sisors to prevent crumbling

well it worked much better than before, but still came up to high for my liking while climbing, and just would not come back down

so for next ride we will raise rear shock setting to 225psi front the same, but raise limiter strap up two more holes, and see how thaqt works

as for hp, not sure but on one long pull i seen 15.7psi, any idea what hp that is

we were trying to get it to 23psi but no luck, air/fuel was stuck on 14.7

it seamed to be strong, but other tnitro 240 was working it

Fred did will put a manual boost controller on the sled? Is it clutched for 23 psi? I doubt it....like whats it reving now?? Is it hitting the rev limiter? is it a 19t kit?

you swamped out over there?? Whats on your wish list for farm equipment??
I sell a few lines I'm sure you could use on your farm.

trying to get to 23 pounds of boost ? is the mcx fuel system able to support those numbers? also did you say that you were at 19 the week before and now youre around 15 ? id look it over for a boost leak or a broken header pipe . if you re headers shot get an alpine i helped 2 guys replace the broken stokers with them this winter . not sure what kind of blocks you made for youre rear skid but i found the bigger the block the less it wheelies :face-icon-small-win

we wish it had the mannuel boost controller, but it has the electronic one, we and Will does not know yet on how to set it up correctly, and will be sending back the sled this week

yes we seen 19 the week before, but not this trip, and yes it has the fuel supply to go into the mid 20 boost we have been told

we will check the manifold out(seams to be the week spot with the nitro)

as for farm equipment, i run red mostly, then what ever works the best after that, what do you sell and where...

Did they re map it for that kinda boost? Manual controller is easy to put on....sent you a PM about the equipment

Heard it was running fine until you monkeyed with the controller. when you take someones sled without permission you probably shouldn't screw with the setup.

what the hell are you talking about again, you need to think before keyboarding:face-icon-small-hap...

i will be sure to tell the owner what you have said

Just stirring the pot like you like to do sometimes. Just repeating what Mike told me.
