Push turbos

Anyone have good luck with the push turbo setup on an m8 this year haven't seen any reports on how they run.

lots of hype before the snow flew this year but never heard a whole lot after. mmsports might have had one but I can't remeber for sure

They sure disappeared, or flew way under the radar this season after the big hype of last fall. Maybe more are running these kits than it seems, but there is very little, if any real world experience on these forums and others regarding their system.

push turbo...

I know of one person who had one installed, No gauges, no coolant to the turbo, pump gas kit, was told kit was DIALED in and needed nothing more. person ran 20% race gas, sled ran 9-10 lbs. boost instead of 7-8 as advertised, needless to say sled burned down, ended his year on that sled. NOT IMPRESSIVE IMO.

Rohmer was, PUSH didn't pay one of his suppliers and got cut off. No efi fuel boxes = No turbo kit sales!

Seen a couple burn downs. Not sure if its kit or customer tuning but never heard a good review. Also heard the same about stiffing suppliers.

Push Kit

I loved my kit still do not love the box. Wish I could just get BD to sell me the 08 boxes none ada. No messing just pull the rope and go I did have good luck with my push all year ran it up to 18 lb of boost did not love my bottom end until I put the 2010 head back on but then with 112 I could only get 12 lb of boost need more octane. The thing with attitude and OVS box it all about the pre-program. I put an reg bd box in front of my attitude to get my bottom end cleaned up and that worked.

You know what your doing! That is a case of the rider knowing how to tune.

Guys that run more boost than the kit is suggested to run and don't know how to tune, will be getting towed back to the truck!

There are a few turbo kits that use the Attitude box with no issues, whats the problem you had with it?

MM has done many turbo kits. There was one in my area kit looked very clean!! But did not perform up to par and owner said he could not get ahold of push at any time.

Lots of rumors but not going to go down that road.

Kevin you forgot to tell people that you replaced two turbos on the push last year one the filter I guess failed and ruined the compressor and the other is because the water lines were not hooked up and the bearings failed. The PL box ran perfect on are twin sled to yours and you need to spend sometime learning the modes and how they work. The BD box works because you have taken the time to learn it. I have offered to train you on the PL box but you just have not had the time to come and learn to tune it. I know you have been busy closing your dealership so maybe this year we can spend some time with you learning how to tune a turbo with the PL box.

we have an 09 with the push turbo and it has been awesome all year. We had the power commander V on it originally, and messed around with that for quite a while, even taking a laptop on the hill with us so we could mess with the auto tune. we finally changed it to an attitude box and it has been awesome all year. we have run it at three thousand feet in the grass drags and up to 11000 feet in cooke, last weekend in fact, and 8 lbs of boost all the way up to 17. Only problems we had were a set of reeds and we put the coolant temp sensor switch in to start it easier.

Carlc do you ride with Shain at all in the Bozeman area?? I think may have talked to him about your sled a few times he also has a Tm8.

oh yeah we are good friends with shane, we dont ride with him as much as we would like though.

PL Box

Yes I did burn down one turbo one this sled because of the no coolant line at 18LB of boost but the filter thing was one my OVS turbo and they both have different filters now not a fan of the double rubber to make the auto motive filter work.

As far as the box goes I just wish we could minus fuel at the bottom end. Yes I have a lot more experience with the BD box but kind of got the PL box figured except the bottom end it just makes no sense that I can not lean my bottom end out.

I had the rich bottom end and I backed the fuel pressure off and added from there up with the PL box,, works everytime

Fuel Presure

Yes I did that I ran as low as 30Lb still was not a 100% usually That works but I just wish it was possible to do bottom end in box..

on the low end topic, i had to tweak fuel pressure when going from huge boost down to pump or the other way.....with that said, i did have my numbers (colors) on the low side (3-5) when running 13-16lbs shortly before going down to 8lbs on pump, so this would suggest i could of lowered my fuel pressure when she was at 13-16lbs causing my red/grn/blue values to get pushed up when tuned in and maybe (possibly) i would not have to lower fuel pressure when lowering the boost to 8lbs....but i only went down on boost at season end

Correct he has two in the charge tube. He claims that it helps cool the charge temperature. All that it does is leave puddles of fuel in the intake plenum and cause a rich condition when you’re on and off boost.
