Pump Gas $$ VS Race Gas $$

Well with diesel at $4.75 per gallon, what's race gas going to be next year? That will factor into my choice of sled/project for this summer. Who is paying what for race gas right now and does anyone have any "HARD FACTS about what race gas will do for the future. I realize that all fuel prices are going up, but will race gas hit $10.00per gal?

It's a bit over $300 for a barrel of 114 in Spokane right now. I paid $240 a drum 3-4 years ago, so it hasn't gone up too much over time.

fuel prices

Must be nice to buy fuel that cheap up here in Canada Northern Alberta I paid 850$ for a barrel of 114+, so you can buy almost three barrels to our one. Its better than pump gas that for sure I had a friend who worked for a fuel hauling company and they made him put regular fuel in the premium tank and also a couple guys I know filled up there dirt from the local gas station and they blew there engines that day and they tested the fuel and it was 67 octane and yesy they got it from the premium so you never what kind of fuel your getting from those tanks and with the fuel prices who uses premium fuel in there vehicles harly no one so that fuel sits there until its used so ya I think pay for race fuel id pay more then at least you know what you are getting.

 I'll bring some up to revy for ya, for alot less than $850! Yikes

Is the Trick leaded or unleaded? The Sunoco 112 burns out an o2 sensor in about 3 rides because of the lead I'm told.

I have had this talk with the vp rep and his answer was it will go up a bit but not at nearly the same rate as pump fuel. The reason he gave me was that the fuel he sells is made up of mostly chemicals so it's price isn't really dictated by the price of crude. Now that said we can't scream about the price of a drum going up 20-50 bucks a year because there are other costs involved that are affected by the price of crude. (I will scream about diesel) Bottom line is we have to pay to play and if you want to play with the big boys your going to pay for good fuel. To me it is worth buying good fuel but there are other options out there, the key is knowing both what you need and what you are getting. Pretty hard to say what you are getting at the pump these days so I'll keep getting it out of the drum, allthough this might be worth a trip to the US of A.

Supply and demand...there is a HUGE demand for pump gas, not that much for race fuel. If everyone starts running 112 the price for it will go through the roof too.

I think the cost of premium at the pump will grow much faster then race fuel.

I used 4 barrels of race gas between Oct 07 and now. The last one I bought 3 weeks ago. I paid $320.00 for each barrel. From what I was told when I picked up the last barrel demand is down. They offered to sell me 4 barrels at the $320.00 price and said they would store it for me in a cool dark room. I've got between 50 and 52 gallons from each barrel, that's about $6.27 a gallon.

Premium pump gas will be over $7.00 a gallon by Oct.

Remember what the t-shirt says. "If you can't run with the big dogs stay on the porch"

Back off the HP a bit and run Av Gas. $5.20 a gallon...never thought I'd say that is cheap, but it is. And you can run some decent boost on 100 octane. I've also found that the av gas is tough to detonate...good fuel.

100LL is a cost effective octane fuel, however the term LL (Low Lead) is relative to non-LL Avgas...Shell Data

100LL still has .56g/liter lead content where I believe the limit of US Unleaded is .013g/liter, but would have to verify. Also not sure what lead g/liter is for various race fuels...I'm sure it's out there...
