Pump Gas monster HP

Dave from Hurricane Racing has been busy cranking a RX1 on the dyno with big HP on Pump Gas.

impressive. but what does the methanol cost? wouldn't race gas be cheaper?

It's not expensive at all. It's meth injection, not running straight meth. Hurricane said that guys run through maybe a litre per tank of gas. It is activated by boost so it only injects at what ever boost level you set it at. I bought a barrel of methenol a year ago for $225 I think.

All fine but what happens when the meth pump takes a dump?? Motor will go as well right??.

With a good kit you won't have to worry about that. If you have a good sureflo methenol pump. The likelyhood of one going out is about as likely as a fuel pump going out.

Its not the meth thats expensive, its the $7500.00 in engine work to handle that boost and hp.

Thats awsome numbers but who wants to go buy a rx1? Drag racing applications I'd guess but I agree lets see some #'s on the nitro. Cool to see what can be done, oh and meth works awsome and I have never had a pump fail more likely you will run the meth tank out when using it in the mountains.

When the Meth runs out how safe is it without or do you just run lower Boost?

Run an electronic boost controller and a pressure transducer off the solenoid. Solenoid has the correct pressure - all is good, run the hero boost. Solenoid doesn't see the correct pressure - trip a relay to the EBC and you fail to a safe, low boost setting.

Are there meth kits available for sled applications? Cost?

Would they be able to run 17-18lbs on pump on a apex?

I ran my nytro with Powder Lites turbo kit at 14lbs no shim nothing touched using meth . It was wicked quick to spool and one tank fuel to one tank of meth. Another thing you will never crack a header running meth, cools the exhaust way down.
