interesting one here. The starter ring gear unthreaded off the back of the primary.
It flung itself off and broke in 2. Surprisingly it did very little damage. I wasn’t going very fast and the minute i heard it, I smashed the brake. Pulled out the pieces and checked over as best as possible.
Started it up and rode casually back to the truck. About 10 miles.
It ran perfectly fine, I noticed a very little vibration (hardly noticeable) but i thought at the time it was the damaged drive belt.
Unloaded the sled at home and started looking things over. I noticed oil spray on the side of the engine and inside of the panels in front of the clutch and surface. No pooling but more spray, like a film.
I looked behind the clutch and the oil line got broken off the oil check valve. It was pointed at the valve resting about 1/8” away but the barbed nipple was missing.
It ran normal. Idled normal. It didn’t heat up, about 120*max on the groom no scratchers. Started fine the next day to unload. Pulled the plugs and they were just fine, literally looked like a plug with 2 or 3 rides on them, maybe a little wet, both sides look similar, pto a little bit darker.
How do I know if I damaged something? I didn’t check compression. I have riding plans this weekend and I’m a little nervous.

Oh and the oil check valve…………. Any tricks in getting that thing out?

I did get the check valve off.
Very tight vice grips. Twist to loosen. Lift, twist, lift twist.
Then a bit of torch heat. From there I hit straight up on the vice grips with a heavy poly hammer. It actually came out pretty easy with that.
