Protective gear

Me and a buddy started using the demon snow gear last year. I like it a lot and seems to work well as one of your base layers. I had the d30 which has the shoulder and elbow pads in it but i might try another that is a little less bulky, I never was a big fan of the tek vests

Overall the demon stuff was good? I'm looking at getting there d30 v2 http://store.demonunited.com/Demon-FlexForce-X-D30-Top-p/ds1630.2.htmI like that it is a more athletic looking piece.

I wear a Polaris branded Tekvest, the freestyle version I think. Seven years ago I broke my collar bone in a sledding accident. Think of a broomstick snapping and you'll get a good visual of what the x-ray looked like. I've worn a Tekvest ever since whether trail riding back home or out west in the mountains. I'm not sure it will protect from another broken collar bone but it sure makes a guy think about what else could happen. I've seen my old man take handlebars to the chest/gut and be down for the count the rest of the day. If had he been wearing a Tekvest it probably would've turned out much differently.

I wear mine over the midlayer and underneath the jacket.

An Arctic Cat branded Tekvest. I tend to run without a mid layer when riding with the vest which means I don't have to go a coat size up from what I usually wear with a midlayer under it.

tadder52 and I ride together quite often. If I remember correctly his Tekvest opens on the side, while mine is a front zip. I would think the side open gives a bit more "complete" front protection. His also has zippered front pockets that come in handy for small items.

The past 3 years or so I've rode with a tekvest but always felt it was a little bulkier than I wanted . ..last year I got the EVS G6 and love this thing for the multitudes of protection it provides and much better fit . ..it is a little bulky in the elbow area with the guards there but nothing that hinders my movement or motion .. .anywhere from 140 to 160 bucks if ya shop around . ..and for someone who doesn't have anything and is goin' to Haydays . .there will be a bunch of tekvests there that will make a good starter for cheap ..

How well does this breathe in relation to a TekVest?

protective

last year was my first year wearing any sort of protective gear, and I'm glad I started. I won't be riding this year without my Tekvest and Thor Force shin\knee guards. For regular trail rides with the family I think Ill omit the Atlas neck brace. And back brace.. Anything aggressive those will be on no doubt.

I've gotten into wearing some of the better wicking undergear stuff and it works pretty well with it .. . ..the evs adds a small layer for warmth so I've been wearing a mid weight long sleeve undergear shirt, the evs, then my Jacket ..thats about it for normal cold days and it breathes fine ..it's a lightweight polyester? type material that the armor is sewn to so it'll breathe pretty easily ..
