I hope you guys have better luck with your Pro's then me! Blew up motor #2 today with less then 350 miles, 1100 total miles between 2 factory long blocks :face-icon-small-dis

I hope the third engine's the charm?

But I bet it handled great the 15 minutes it ran! Do they still feel light when they don't run? J/K, couldn't resist. I've blown up a ton of modded sleds, so I know your pain. Sorry for your loss, better luck on the third one. At least your warrantied and it's early in the season.

That sucks man. I wonder what the deal is. Oh yeah, its a Polaris. J/K. At least its at the beginning of the season and not in the middle of the really good snow season.

I rode the rest of the day on a Ski-doo, Jesus did I just say that out loud!? Still made the best of it, just hope the motor isn't back ordered till 2013.

Dude, that sucks. Is that still under Warranty? Rode up at Grand Lake today, nothing epic but carved a few turns, still need some more snow. I did see a brand new ProClimb engine lock up after 1 mile of riding this morning. Sorry to hear about the Ski Doo:face-icon-small-hap

Tec,

Do you have any idea what is happening on your sled to cause the motors to fail? Seems odd that your sled has gone down twice and we don't hear of "that many" Pro's going down...just curious is all as to what mods you might be running or if it's completely stock. Same fueling location by chance or different fuel each time? Just looking for some similarities is all...

Thanks and sorry for the hassle you are having with the Polaris engines!

Because most issues aren't posted, is my guess. Last year when this happened to Tec's motor, VOHK had a full bench with busted PRO 800 motors.

I rode with Tec several times last year and he knows how to treat a two stroke. No crazy long pulls or other mis-treatment. Just rode it like any other sled. Pretty sure he has no mods except maybe a can. Actually had several pro's in those groups but these guys aren't particularily brand loyal, so you tended to hear the bad as well as the good. The short of it is that many of the motors that failed, failed due to poor clearance tolerance control. I saw a couple of threads on the subject last summer. I think the concensus is, that turbo pro's outlast NA's, so go turbo that thing!

Well god damn it Polaris!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take my $11k I just sent you and build a F*ing engine that works:)

That's all from the peanut gallery for now...

Polaris wants you to know they hear you and are working to resolve the issues.

Cat wants you to know they don't care about weight and here's the PC to prove it!

Not sure what's wrong with SkiDoo, but I'm sure there's something.

Yamaha is actually losing weight and reliable to point of boredom.

Strange, when I asked Eric about Pro motors he said he had great luck with them. That was toward the end of the season. Sorry to hear you had another motor issue. The Pro motors have been holding up very well. More than I can say for some of those new ProClimb 800's. Sorry, I couldn't resist either.

Making me nervous now! Making the switch from SkiDoo this year. Hope I am not going to regret it halfway through the year!

Good luck with the 3rd motor and I hope Polaris is taking care of you for your troubles

It's so hard to say. In the last few days I have read about the new 2012 Cat 800s seizing.

The last few years have been bad to Polaris, motor wise. The Dragon 800s were junk and you could pretty much bet that the sled would fail you, just a matter of when.

I have heard the same thing regarding the new PRO. Natural aspiration motors suck and forced air induction are trouble free. Weird eh?

And Yeah, Tec's sled was bone freaking stock. Twice.

Tec seems to have a bad sled from what I have seen. Let's face it...we all know of at least a couple M8's and eTec's going down (both have recalls or bulletins on the issues). I've had good luck with my Pro and I hope everyone else does too. But for Tec to post this and have guys say they are worried is crazy. What are you going to buy? A Nytro?

So what has been the cause of both your engine failures? Oiling issue? Lean?

Original motor had a mag side crank bearing failure, I won't really know what happened to this one till the dealer can start pulling it apart tomorrow?

My engine is 100% stock and dealer maintained, I let them service it so there's no warranty issues. My last motor was delivered in 10 days, but that was with Polaris's warranty! Now I have GE capital's extended warranty so who knows??

I can't speak for Erik, but there was a lot of sleds that went down last year! All NA, no turbo's. I'm pretty disappointed in my sled, I love it, but it's starting to drive me crazy. I rode the sled less then 1 mile before is locked up yesterday! And i just had it pre seasoned by the dealer!

Tell you what though man, I'd sure rather have a sled go after 1 mile than 400. I can live with missing thx giving weekend... now losing some epic weekend in feb or march? No way man. The failures that happen right after setup or new, those are usually ones that weren't really "engine issues" but setup, debris, or something stupid that got forgotten. I can live with those kinds of failures.

I'm just very happy that the PC hasn't fallen victim to what a bunch of them have this year... better to be lucky than good you know?
