Just wanted to take a moment to give mad props out to Martin, Ben, and the rest of the crew at Pro Guiding Service in North Bend, WA. I took there AIARE Level 1 Avalanche Certification course earlier this week and it was the most educational 3 days of my life.
I've been riding back country with reckless abandon for the better part of the last 10 seasons and consider myself extremely lucky. I've actually been caught in two some what minor avalanches while snowboarding and now realize how bad each one of those situations could've been.
Anyways, I looking forward to making some better more conscious terrain selection decisions in the back country, keeping myself and my crew safe, all while enjoying myself as much as possible and living to see another day. Anyone in the Seattle area that is interested in expanding their knowledge base should seriously consider talking to the guys at Pro Guiding. The best $275 I've spent in a really long time.
Most of this is more alpine/ski related, but check them out at:

They got a great shop in North Bend too if you need some Backcountry gear.
P.S. I'm no way affliated with Pro Guiding, I'm just a guy who had a truely life changing positive experience.
