Propane Turbo RX1.. has anyone done it?

Wondering if anyone has built a propane powered turbo rx1?

I've seen lots of of propane turbo apex and nitro's, but those sleds are fuel injected while the rx1 is carbed. Do you just get rid of the carburetors alltogether and run some kind of a fogger setup?
I remember a old ford truck I used to have, the propane system fogged the propane to the engine and the carburetor was kind of redundant.

It seems propane power might have some benefits.. very high octane rating, so you can run higher boost. Plus way cheaper than buying race fuel.

Curious to learn more about these systems, if anyone has anything to share..

Thanks.

I could be wrong with this but i think the IQ Brad Story ran at the big dog had a rx1 motor in it on propane.I cant see why it cant be done the injection comes off the Apex does it not?

To tune they seem easy, a buddy has one on a Nytro and there just two mixing screws for your air fuel. low end high end.Watch the air fuel gauge and adjust from there. Hp3 makes one nice kit.

propane rx1

I'm not sure what is used on the rx1, but the apex keeps the throttle bodies.
There basicly just for the butterfly/ throttle, you have to have something opening and closing the hole.

Simmons could tell you for sure, he built the iq rx1 for his dad Verlin.

hmmmm guy whos house is right by my dorm has a RX1 that ate a tree.... mmm boost. maybe steal his motor throw some propane down and put it in my sled.

Yeah, I think you would need to fabricate some kind of butterfly throttle plate as a throttle.

On a gasoline powered turbo, you have a fuel pressure regulator to regulate fuel pressure over boost...

On a propane sled.. there would be no fuel regulator as such? Since there is no danger of the boost pressure overtaking the float bowl pressure (like in a carbureted setup) ..with propane (since there are no carburetors) .. so is the only thing you have to meter is the correct fuel-air ratio?

Would a turbo sled follow a different fuel-air ratio requirement curve according to boost levels as compared to a naturally aspirated sled?

I have a old vialle propane system off one of my old ford trucks, I wonder if I could adapt it to a sled. From what I remember it was adjustable so that it was possible to fine tune it to adapt to various engines.

with both carb and fuel injection you still keep your carb/throttle body to controll your intake... as far as boosting on propane your regulator/vaporizer will have a vent to atmosphere... you just run a boost line to this...
