Propane injection on a diesel?

Curious if any of the snowesters have experience with propane injection on a diesel, this is a 2000 PSD with the 7.3. I have heard of crazy power, but I have also heard of it burning them down.

With the current price of diesel I am like everyone else, trying to ease the pain at the pump. I know I am probably not going to find a real solution, but maybe it can help.

My real question is what kind of MPG gains are we looking at, especially at diesel consumption, not so much the propane. (Lets just say I have access to some very cheap propane). I have tried to find information on this but can only find MPG for both fuels combined. I am thinking if it reduces the amount of diesel I use, I may, just may, come out ahead. Also do I need exhaust, gauges, etc? What brand? Far too many products on the web to believe they are all what they are claiming they are.

So let me know if I should try this or walk away. I can't think of a better place to ask as this is the place where all the "horsepower by mods" people hang out, so I know some, if not most, have tried this. :)

It's not used as an alternative fuel in a diesel. It's used like nitrous to get a quick kick in the azz if you need it. If you are looking for an alternative fuel, go with biodiesel.

Installed a kit on a buddies duramax couple years ago.. pretty nice h.p. gain (not sure on the numbers).. really helps out when towing up hills or racing ricers around town. :D..

I asked him a couple weeks ago if he was going to put it on his new dmax.. he said for the money and how much he used it.. it wasnt worth it.. so

The Bullydog kit is what i used on my 97 stroke, it was somewhat adjustable
it started to apply propane at 7 psi of boost, and if I was not crazy on the throttle, i would see 2mpg increase on the norm.I also got it on the dyno and gained 68 hp @ the rear wheels. my .02

Thanks for the info, really not sure if this is worth chasing or not. I will check out the website.
