Proclimb Issue

This is a problem my friend is having. She posted over on S&M but didn't get much help. I'm stumped on what it might be as well. Maybe reeds? Anyways let me know what you guys think.

"I have a 2012 M8 HCR and last year I had guys tell me they were having problems up and down and side to side with these machines from blowing engines to blowing belts.. I personally never had one problem with this sled UNTIL they did flash updates on it.. First time went out to Core Lodge in November for the first ride of the year and first ride after my sleds first updates and 5 seconds down the trail the sled completely died and started flashing ECU 17 at me which meant she had blown an exhaust temp sensor.. So whatever took it in and got it fixed. Ran fine after never died, although now the sled is sometimes hard to start like it needs a little bit of throttle now and then to even stay idling. And when the sled is warm, it can idle for a few seconds enough time for me to put my gloves on and when I go to give it gas it completely falls on it's face and than comes right back to life. Took it in and got my local dealer to look at it and they requested installing a cold air intake.. I don't like the idea as it never did this before, only since those updates.. Than this past weekend I got it back from them took it out and 5 seconds down the trail the sled died completely, but no engine codes, wouldn't start again. Had to get towed back. Changed all of my plugs and there was a piece of metal in one of my boots.. SO anyways got it going went out for the day and it still bogged sooo bad. Maybe a coil?

So my question is now that I have talked forever...Is anyone else having these problems and are they because of the flashes? I don't really know how to take it when my dealer tells me 'Welcome to the Proclimb chassis' when I tell him about my problems lol.. :nono:"

I'm guessing they told her ecu flash. But their isn't a ecu update for these sleds. Mind you the dealership she took it too is full of genetic throwbacks so that doesn't help.

I think there have been some having fuel pickup issues on some. Could be causing you some grief. Mine it is normal to give it a touch of throttle to start it hot or you pull it over a few times, but will aways hold an idle. Cold air intake sounds like a load of bs to me.

Well this is the same dealer that diagnosed my blown engine as loose spark plug caps last year lol

It depends on where the sled are.
In scandinavia, all 2012 800 got software update this fall. I have a sticker on my ecu saying it is reflashed acording to the bulletin. I was sbit stumped when i realized that you guys in the us did not get any software updates on the 12 this fall.

I noticed OS (overseas) models 2013 M800 have 15 wide top gear and chain too.

As for the throttle switch I try to run the cable with almost no play to start with. Just enough so the switch is not engaged. The throttle cable needs adjustment as the sleds get miles on them. We set them up with very little play when they go out and all need adjustment when they come in for service. Loose cables cause intermittent running issues because of the safety switch.
