How hot do the Axys Pro’s run?
Pretty well known the Pro-ride Pro’s run hot (mine included).

I am debating between a new pro or a sks for next year.
I do a lot of riding in low snow conditions, i.e... spring, dry spells, etc...

wondering if a new pro cools sufficiently??

thanks

scratchers down 127°. scratchers up = whatever the conditions dictate which is probably hot.

The axys 3" snowflap helps it run cooler compared to the older pro flap. I put one on my 11 pro and it runs cooler than before (almost too cool with all the additional cooling addons).

I will be switching back also but not because of issues with the flap. Need to warm up my engine temps a little.

124 degrees

124 degrees on the trail with scratchers down. 124 degrees off trail in the soft stuff. My 155 Axys throws one heck of rooster-tail, buddies hate following me. :face-icon-small-hap

You will need to run the scratchers on hard snow. That said, the Axys is much more temp stable than the old Pro. Warms up quicker, stabilizes quicker on restarts and generally runs cooler.

As mentioned, mine runs 127 scratchers down on hard snow with outside temps above 40 all day long. It runs 123 in the powder. I have seen 150 but that is about the time you start smelling the hi fax too!

I run my 155 2.6 with the stock flap. No cooling issues but you definitely do not want to be close behind it. The roost is hilarious.

I ran my 13 Pro with a 162 X3 track with Ski-Z snow deflectors on the skis in marginal conditions to keep the temperature down. They work very well and they are reversible and inexpensive. You can put them on or remove them in several minutes. You have to drill a hole in the middle of your skis in the back. With the Ski-Z snow deflectors on my old sled, I could run down the hard trails and stay below 130 degrees. They weigh a heck of a lot less than all of the extra cooling stuff that comes on an SKS. They probably weigh 8 ounces each if even that much so a pound or less. They put a lot of snow into the center of the track at the front where it lubricates and cools. I think that they cost approximately $70.

Way easier to keep cool than the pro. Still need scrafchers down on the packed road/trail like you should and all other mountain sleds.

mine got warm

when I noticed the temp light on it said 199, scrachers were down but hard crusted snow, shut it down immediately

I have never been over 170 with my 11 pro, and that was on crusted groomed trail in very warm ambient temps.

what do temps seem to run slow poking around in the trees with low snow? like during spring time?

thanks

I need to keep the scratchers down at all times when I'm on the trail but off trail I've not seen temps get over 130

Running the icy trail this weekend to get to our play area ( 10 miles) - scratchers down saw 130-164 but never higher. Mind you this is when the trail was frozen over night and HARD..
In the fluff normal temps were 124 and poking in the trees never seen anything above 130 scratchers up.

Next day we decided to wait till 10:00am to hit the trail to our play area. scratchers down 147......so quite a diff when it has a chance to give a bit.
Normal riding in the winter down the trail 124

S/C

Just got back from the Grand Mesa where the temps were almost 50 degrees and hard pack snow. Never got above 140 with my scratchers and usually stayed around 130. That's good news considering how hot it was. During the normal snow year I seldom get over 129.
