Pro skid in an IQ

Can you put a Pro RMK skid under an IQ? Has anyone done it? did it work well?

On a 2009 Dragon 163… this week, I am having a 2012 PRO 163 rear and new Pro front shocks with Holz A-arms. All shocks re-valve, sized (fronts shortened) and clicker reservoirs added. Rear track shock upgrade to the needle valve and heavier spring. Also Avid 7 tooth drivers, anti stab, and Peak track.

I have two rides so far this year to get refreshed on the stock feel so I can tell the difference.

I definitely noticed the difference on a short ride with a new Assault 155 competition track. The ride felt very controlled yet responsive to input, I still dumped it on it’s side the first time I went to wip it around, but did so on my dragon too:face-icon-small-dis

Just hoping for some more snow now...

Done! Pro Rear and front shocks upgraded all around

Took the sled out for the first ride, we adventured into our secret back country area, thinking there would be no snow, and were pleasantly surprised. 5 foot with 1 foot of mashed potatoes on top. Rode with a new pro 155, 80 lb lighter rider and close in skill (I’m close to his skill :) ). We did some aggressive tight tree (notice the missing hand guard) and creek draws. The new suspension and track feel very controlled; almost locked into the snow, we set the ski pressure higher than before to help prevent wash-out on side hills and overly nose up in the deep pow. We didn't have a lot of pow to feel, but made some steep short climbs in tight spots and was still maneuverable, maybe more predictable? It felt like it stayed on top and the track packed snow instead of trenching especially noticeable on steep creek crossings. I will tinker with the adjustable shocks to fine tune, went 3 from softest on rear shock so far. With the 7 tooth drivers there seems to be a little vibration, I will tighten the track, looks like a little loose, no ratcheting.

Here are some pics:

Special thanks to Dan at Skagit Valley Polaris for taking on this project and as usual being as enthusiastic as me about the mod!

Nice work... Those 7 tooth drivers will free up some power loss for you .

I think you will be very happy once you get it dialed in.

They do? I was thinking that the smaller diameter compared to the larger 8 tooth stock ones would actually cause more friction. It mist be the added clearnce room. Are they a big performance gain over stock? Is there any downside?
