Pro RMK Question

I'm looking at the the pro rmk 153" and I noticed something. There were "joints" or metals that weren't welded, but put together with an adhesive. The dealer told me it's how Polaris saved weight. So I guess my question is, what is that material? Do you people that are much handier or just smarter think that it's that much lighter and as strong? thanks

It's a metal bonding epoxy. Similar to what has been used to hold hinges on GM pickup doors for many years.

Last year at the Jackson Hole Hillclimbs they had a little demonstration setup with a piece of aluminum welded to a plate and the same piece with their "aluminum epoxy". Force was applied and the welded piece broke while the epoxied piece was still intact.

It is made by Lord Adhesives

#406 Acrylic adhesive... Two part self mixing cartriges... releases with heat.

Super strong stuff.

Can be repaired at home with a small investment in tools.

Check out FTX build in the build section and Christopher SPG airframe running board install for more info and photos in those threads

I believe it's called structural bonding. Supposed to be very strong, evidently stronger than welding.
