PRO RMK Homemade Forced Venting

It could work if you pre filtered the holz vent. I would be worried about snow being "sucked" thru the vent and blown onto the secondary. But, maybe some material from outerwear or slp to stop that and you could get it to work. You can get those spal fans in a "pull" or "suck" version, which would pull cold air onto the secondary. Not sure if it would be strong enough to hit the primary very well. Hope my thoughts help some.

Alot of great infor here- for simplicity and better understanding "
Wiring for dummies-"
We have 5 guy's in our group that have the Blow Hole mounted this season and all runnning ES-
SInce MH stated it would be best to fuse a lead off the battery to a rectfyier and only run have power when sled is running/ key on run-
Would you draw / explane than a bit more and where to buy some of these parts.
All are running off the D/C power outlet ( Inlet?) in the velcro bundle above the primary-
This is where MTN TEK instructions say's to connect/ but now I have caution after reading all post on powering acc and from what i see here.

Thanks in advance- me know want no issues..:help:

Pind good points. Was thinking that if you are using a fan to cool a room for example. You would stand in front of the fan not behind it. I don't have any vents on the sides but have a gutted hood with lots of vents ( headlight delete gauge lifter etc) blow the cold air in low at the clutch and let the hot air rise .
I bought the Spal fan you suggested. That little fan blows a lot of air. Hope I can test the design soon

sledhead,
Those little fans are surprising hey. After doing this, I wish I would have not cut the top square out on the Holz vent on that side...... obviously, an easy fix with some black duct tape to block it........:becky: Other than that I can feel warm air being blown on my hand...... functioned flawlessly for 6.5 hours yesterday and in over the hood pow so, if it keeps it cooler than perfect. I think it "helps" in evacuating the hot air under the clutch guard. Is it the best thing since slice bread, probably not, but I feel results (hot air). So I am happy.

SageCrusher,
If you pull the power from the battery you are not putting load on the Voltage regulator. The set up I have is for a Non-ES and I am more than positive MH will clarify what he suggests for the ES folks and the Blow Hole/Fan set ups.

That's awesome.

I hate electricity.

I WILL NOT do this type of thing on my own...and I'd never let some shop do it without reading this thread first and doing it the way Mountainhorse says to do it.

I'd better give them MH's phone number too.

Shoot....MH, you may as well just stop by my house and bring a all the parts to make a turn-key kit...I'll by the rootbeers.

:)

That might work. Since you have to drill a 4.5" hole you would have to figure out the mounting of the fan is all. You could turn the push style fan around and mount it where the tool bag goes (blowing onto the secondary). Just cut out a 4" hole in the aluminum plate. Just be aware of you went that route, an exploding belt would have fun with the fan.:face-icon-small-sho

Agreed. Drill smaller holes, leave some material for strength
