My mfd shows service engine light, code is high voltage exhaust sensor 173-3. Swapped sensors in pipe, and swapped mfds off my other identical sled they work good on other sled and not on mine, any ideas? Checked all plugs and wires for rub spots

check what the voltage from the charging system is running at..both idle and rpm.... could be the system is over volting....

Check the voltage at the bullet connectors to the sensor. On one of the connectors, you should have around 5 volts. The other one will show near zero. Use a DVM as it is easier to read. If you have no volts at either connector, you need to search upstream for a broken wire or maybe one of the chassis grounds is not working at the connection on the bumper bolt. The ECM monitors voltage on the power input wire and it needs to see the volts change after x amount of time or it will set a code. If you disconnect the sensor connectors and watch an ohmmeter while the pipe heats up, you should see the resistance change - high idle with maybe a few hard blaps on a stand is all you'll need to do.

Changing MFD's, though something to quickly swap, is not a useful diagnostic step for codes. Just like back in the old days of CCC, EEC, and multi-variants of Bosch alphabet Jet, getting the right stuff to and from the ECM is where most of the problems lie.

got it fixed boys, i'd like to just keep the information from all of you because of the problem. but so you guys don't have to wonder about it, i installed an slp block off plate on the front, the installation requires you remove the pipe. i simply forgot to put the sensor back in, figured that was the issue no problem. except i put it all back together correctly and it still was on, figured i ruined the probe so i took the one of my dad's pro rmk and it still had the issue. i simply didn't run it long enough, i started it seen the light was still on sat there for a second and shut the engine off. then i had to ride it over to the ramp to load it in the it, by the time i got in the back of the pickup with it the light was off. took it back in the shop, put my BMP powderlite on it, and rode 50 miles today without a hickup, lets never talk about this stupid issue again (all my own fault) :face-icon-small-hap

Hey, don't feel bad. Stuff like that happens. I forgot to reconnect the map sensor on my 07 dragon after having the airbox out and the light came on when I started it. I thought here we go with something major but after looking around for a while found the plug laying by the fuel filter. Scared the hell out of me thinking I broke something.
