Pro RMK Clutch Vents Yay or Nay?

Traditionally a Cat guy, about to make the plunge to the new Pro RMK 163. In this process I'm trying to plan for a wrap... How critical are the clutch vent kids on these sleds? If it's a must then I'll not worry about wrapping the clutch side if the vent kit chops the hell out of it..

Thoughts?

If you are laying it on its side alot only do very minor venting something up high as possible dont need much just enough to get a little air flow through there. I had venting on my dragon and it was always torn no matter what fabirc i used. Ive learned alot about clutching in the past few years i have no use for venting anymore .

Ditto....no need for venting in my opinion. Nearly 800 miles on the original 1115 belt. These are clutched nearly perfect right out of the crate.

Just to play devil's advocate as I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to this question. but just because you aren't blowing belts doesn't mean your clutches aren't running hot? I think a genral rule that vents help any sled reduce under hood heat that soaks the motor and clutches. So any venting helps, is it 100% needed that is for each owner to decide.

Fair enough, just trying to get a consensus before I chop up a wrap though :-)

Heats been a performance killer since the wheel was invented... Imo letting hot air out is obly a positivr...do a search theres a good thread on this a couple pgs back

yes to venting,Not Everyone does it.
many claim to never have issues with out vents. others still have issues
with venting.
The EPA crack down on noise, has made sled builders
closing up and foaming insides more and more.
but the power still climbing up, and bodys panels are getting smaller.
it's kinda like 50lbs of ---- in a 10lb bag.
Do you have to have Them no,
do you have to have the pipe and power commander?, NO
but it works better than stock. :face-icon-small-win

My biggest prob with side panel venting is having the mesh rip and also weakening the panel. With every body now side hilling like mofo's, the side of the panels come into contact with ice, trees, hard pack and powder its only a matter of time before they fail. I love the top venting/footwells but sides no.

Could not agree more.

I did the large side vents from "Mo Flow" and could not be happier with the fit and finish as well as their customer service.

My thoughts are that, yes they probably are not absolutely needed but it's definitely not going to hurt or hinder in any way. Plus after last year, riding some deep snow for quite a while, we did have a Pro and an M8 blow belts. Another sled that was with that was all vented up had no issues and you could actually feel the temperature difference in by the clutches. That was a selling point for me.

I was concerned about that as well but after doing an install, no concerns. Side venting on the Pro when done correctly, should not affect the integrity of the side panels. I did the large side panel vents and when I drilled them out, there actually pretty thick. Just don't overdo it on the cut out or holes and as far as the mesh goes, that stuff is pretty strong!

CONSOLE VENTS

Maybe look into the Console Vent Kit by Holz. I just installed them on my Pro.
I have to believe it would help. Plus you get rid of the ugly warning stickers.
If you have knee pads there then it would not be for you. I have Motor Fist pants which have built in knee pads so that's not an issue for me.

The Gill Vents are the best ones available IMO. They let the heat out, keep snow from getting in and are super strong! Had them on my M8 and loved them. They are going on the Pro tomorrow :D

X2 on the gill vents. The problem with mesh vents is sometimes they let a little snow in. On a naturally aspirated that's not a big deal, but if you ever add a turbo down the road you may run into snow ingestion on the dry powder days. I had to get rid of my mesh vents and add gill vents when I added the turbo. The gill vents are built pretty tuff and that's good if you spend time in the trees.

I have 2000 miles on mine and mine ate belts like crazy with no venting but that's because I would go and go without stoping. And yes I checked the alignment. My dads has 2300 miles and his wasn't easy on belt either
