Pro Rmk 800 163" Clutching help

i talked to shane at carls today and he said to clean the power valves really good and clean the holes in the cylinder and the power valve to make sure the power valves are getting opened all the way, thats what he said he has found to cause this problem, i pulled mine out and there was a lot of thick oil collected in there, i took them all apart and cleaned everything up really well and put new gaskets in maybe thats all it is

Small holes in cylinder.... did you spray those out with carb cleaner or send in a pipe cleaner, or???.....

My $0.02, Could this be a belt issue, had this happen in the past when drag racing was loosing rpms threw on a new belt and voila had my RPMs back . Just a thought.

Breaking those springs is a bad sign....I would really look close at PTO runout, crank phase, and also the primary clutch taper for being centered/true and fitting properly to the crank.

Yup, dealer did a full inspection, checked tps, power valves, clutches. Still looking for the issue.
Did you ever get this issue figured out? I've got a 2011 155 that I'm only getting 7100-7400 on climbs in fresh snow. I cleaned the Power Valves and it helped for a ride but now is back down to 7400. It gets to about 7800 on the flat. Just curious what I need to check for next. This sled rips at only getting about that, I can't imagine what it'll do if I can get the r's up!

First things first-Why did you break 4 drive springs? That is the first thing I would be looking at. Maybe try swapping in one of your buddy's drive clutch and see if anything changes. In 2005 when the taper changed, if the clutch was removed, it needs to have the bore reamed or it will wobble on the shaft. Had not been an issue for years and most of the techs working on these didn't even know the reamer existed. Check runout, alignment and anything else related to the clutch before the valves. If all of that checks out and the issue doesn't change with a different clutch, THEN look at the valves. It is also possible that these sleds may benefit from slightly different ex valve springs at upper elevation to make sure the valves are moving completely into a high port position. Will be watching this closely if I ever get to go riding! Have also heard from many 163 owners that 58 gram weights work best when around or over 10000 ft.

hi prosam 800,i have a 07- 700 for 4 years i had low rpms, tryed everything then i went to team web looked up the tied 2,went with what they had for 3,000-6,000
all i can say is wow, rpms 8100-8200 it was at 7200-7600,best thing i ever did
check it out, it is all they say it is.

I would be checking the engine mount straps that bolt to the motor(for some reason some are working loose, and when loose they affect rpms....easy to check, pull hood grab motor by recoil and lift up..if it moves much at all..the bolts came loose holding the straps to the block)..next..by pass the exhaust solenoid..they are known for plugging, hangingup and for cracking the plastic fittings..just disconnect each hose from the powervalves and plug..go ride it..if it rips on top the solenoid is bad....next issue, check tps with a high quality multimeter..not digital wrench..I have seen tps sensors get moisture in them and while they tested fine..they ran like crap..almost lethargic..new sensor and sled ripped....next..look in the tunnel real close..is the track getting over and rubbing on the rear suspension mounts(look very close) if so pull bolts and use 2 washers on each side to space the bracket off the suspension shaft..also verify track tension..(look in the frt of the tunnel at the very end of the coolers..if there is any black marks at all..track is too loose(very big hp drag if it rubs))..thats all I have for now...

I have to wonder why you are breaking primary springs also. That seems to be a result of something not being right and binding up. Where are you located? I have two team tss-04 that I have never ran. Well, one never ran. It was on my PRO when it came and I took it apart to get springs for the TIED I put on my wifes 2011 600 IQ RMK. I am not using it and don't plan on using it since I really like thet TIED. Let me know if you want it. I would let it go for around $50.00 plus shipping. I have the one off the 600 too but it has about 200 miles on it. Both are in pieces minus the springs.

I would believe the problem is in the primary though. I would take it off and have it taken apart and look for damage. First spring breaking might have damaged it. Maybe.
