pro rmk 163, shock upgrade is it a must ?

I'm running a 13 with the std walker evans, have about 400 miles on them. Can anyone tell me if the shock upgrades are a must and what shock would be best bang for the buck. Also running a silber turbo at 8 lbs of boost love the sled but looking to improve the ride in the rough stuff. Thanks

All depends on your budget. I won't ride the stock shocks as the come from the factory. I weigh 240 and don't act my age on a sled. Best bang for the buck? Send your shocks to Carls for a revalve. I had the stock shocks on my 11 revalved as well as my 14. Night and day difference for only $35 a shock. Got deep pockets, then go exits or raptors. The stock shocks are not bad. Just not set up for a fat guy that likes the throttle.

My opinion is the factory WE's are absolute garbage from the factory

You could send them to www.gasshockrepair.com and get them revalved for your weight and toss a set of triple rate springs on the from Raptor shocks and have a good shock for cheap

I went with 4 Raptor shocks on my sled but I'm about to send my ladies sleds shocks into Andy at gas shock repair.com and have him rebuild and revalve them to her weight for a very fair price

With a turbo I would consider an aftermarket suspension KMod would be my choice. I have had a timber sled skid and would not buy one again. Switched to kmod and I'm much happier with quality and performance.
If only interested in shocks I would recommend Elka stage 5 they are pricey but worth it. That's what I'm running on my pro. the stock suspension flat works in the powder but no matter which shocks you run it won't perform like an after market skid.
I have raptors and exit X1 on my nytro both are good shocks but the elkas are better, IMHO

The stock shocks are descent for most people below 170 lbs. But I have no problem bottoming out my rear shocks on the whoops even on the trails. The fronts don't rebound quick enough. I know some people like to go with the re-valve option but I feel that it's a band aid. Zbroz X1's on all four and I love it. I can't imagine anything else at this point. I had Fox Evol R's before. They were much better than stock but can't touch the butter smooth X1's. I'd say Zbroz, Raptor or Elka's are the way to go if you have the coin.

There is room for improvement, but it is very much rideable with the stock shocks. Both my rear stockers needed a rebuild at 1500 miles, for whatever that's worth.
