pro missing above 3/4 throttle, pinned losses and gains rpms, anyone got a fix???

my pro has been running flawless, but at the end of my last ride it started to miss when pulling a hill above 3/4 throttle. if you left the throttle below 3/4 not a problem, but anything above 3/4 and the miss was back. headed back to the truck and then when you'd pin it and hold it to the bars it would go up to 8,200 rpm and then like someone pulled off the throttle it would loss 1,500 rpm for a couple of seconds and then back up to 8,200. felt like someone had retarded the timing a ton. temp was right at 125 and was at the end of the tank so fuel is not a factor. know i've read a couple of posts with the same symptoms, anyone got a fix???

Mine had the same problem. My dealer tried a lot of different things finally Polaris told them to change injectors. Said they had a bad batch. Took it out yesterday and it ran perfect all day..mine seems to be fixed..:face-icon-small-hap

What was the build date of your Pro? I think it is stamped on the tunnel. I'm curious if this is limited to a certain date range (i.e. bad batch of parts).

Bad lot of injectors?

I have been wondering if Polaris can identify the batch lot of injectors and which sleds they went into. Mine was manufactured 10-14-2010. I doubt it is this simple to track down because I bet the engine is complete when it comes down the assembly line, probably need to know the engine manufacture date??

I will try and get by to check the build date. I believe it was July but do not remember the date. It is at a friends house in my trailer. I could not get the trailer home to my house yesterday as the snow drifts were to big to get it home...

bogging

220 miles on mine ran flawless, then it started, wide open for a few seconds then boooog then back to power again. happened aleast 12 times during the day. hope shes an easy fix, still love the sled incredible boondocker, and a surprising amount of power for a STOCKER.

That was about when mine started having the problem also...around 200 miles. Did not miss a beat all day Saturday now....:whoo:

Sound exactly like mine. steady cruise at 7600-8000rpms(70 mphish) and its like it shuts off, drops rpm to about 6500 then you vary the throttle a little and it takes of again, does it with both resistors and with non ethanol fuel.

keep us updated on what it takes to fix this. seems it happening to more and more peeps all the time... 800poodragon hopefully this is the fix for everyone!

Answer from Polaris

Finally got thru to Polaris and so did my dealer. They have recieved a lot of calls on the injectors but they have only replaced injectors on a few sleds for differant reasons than this. One dealer I inquired with yesterday said they had replaced a bad injector on a sled that would not idle, differant issue. The answer I got from Polaris was the kill switch or the spark plug wire boots. I am going to untape my kill switch and see if wiggling it around has any effect and I am going to cut a 1/4" off my spark plug wire caps and snap them back down. I have already tried rktek's work around and I know I have the caps down snug. They think vibration while at peak RPM is possibly causing the issue but they deny any injector replacements for this

I had the same issue...checked the spark plug caps and ended up the injectors were shot with 380 miles. Replaced them and so far so good.

I was asked about the color, mine were yellow. Heard also that some are blue and though I can't confirm this, I read somewhere the blue ones had zero issues.

Hope this helps
Rob

i have seen a few injecters go bad on the new sleds. you also might check your wires under your hood. you have to pull your hood and buy the steering post they have been rubbing on the bolts and on the steering post. we have seen loss of headlights, hand wamers, ect. we have been taping them up and cofaxing them. then zipting them up so they will quit rubbing. you might check that as well.

didnt fix it

So I chopped 1/4 "off the spark plug boot and messed with the kill switch and It still did it.

330 miles, put new injectors in[yellow] also cleaned plug boots, sled ran good till 3/4 through the day then wide open bog back again. had bought some cat plug boots that i brought with me changed them out on the hill and bog was gone , sled also ran better. only time will tell if this was the fix but it was not injectors.

Was thinking that it might be plug caps. Thinking I might change them but did not know if the are resistor caps. Any one know?
