Pro Gearing

I have a 2011 Pro with a clutch kit, can, and PA head. I am thinking about doing some re-gearing just to get a little more bottom end torque (don't need it really because these sleds are responsive as is but a little extra never hurts). Anyone done anything yet? Does the clutching have to be altered if gearing is slightly changed?

Im running a 19/42 with a stock chain 2.5 challenger extream and anti ratchet drivers. I haven't been able to test it in the backcountry yet, but I know I haven't lost much top end track speed. I raced my buddy on flat ground with 2012 Pro RMK with stock 20/42 gears and I took him off the line but we were neck and neck when we let off.

I have an '11 pro 155 that is completely stock other than lighter weights. I changed to 19/42 gearing so that I could gear down a little, but not have to change the chain. I have been pleased with the results. It has a little more snap on the bottom and I have not seen a big change in the top, but I also don't ride in areas that have long open trails where I would be racing. As you said these sleds already have pretty good bottom end grunt, but I think you will be happy if you gear it down.

Could someone tell me what the stock 2011 gearing was?

I changed the top gear from the stock 20 tooth to the 19 tooth but didn't think about changing the bottom gear. Just looking to know what I'm working with now. Thanks...

I went with the 19/43 and a CE 2.5 track on a 163. I had to change weights last year to keep the rs up I went with 60.5 and had good luck with that I ride at 7500 to 10500 ft.

1 have a 2012 with a 174 2.5, went from 20/42 to 19/43 and no clutching changes. Holds full rpm and pulls like a tank, by far the best set up i've run to date.
