Pro Cover?

I'm snowchecking a 13, wondering if I should flip the 2 bills for the Polaris cover or look elsewhere. I do a 60 mile trailer every ride on open trailer so cover is crucial.

What cover are you using with your Pro? How's the OEM? Durabilty? Fasteners? My last OEM cover I had to mod it pretty good and repair it after the first year which didn't make me to happy about the coin I dropped.

Thanks for any recommendations!

Sno Skinz for me or at very least the polyester cover from Polaris.Don't buy the canvas cover from Polaris, it will last 1 year 2 if your lucky.

Sno Skinz cover on my 08 is still going strong, stays in garage during winter but sits outside in sun at 10.000 feet all summer long.Sun faded but good for many years to come.My 2011 also has a Sno Skinz and is under the same conditions.

Had an 02 RMK and sold sled to friend in 08 and Sno Skinz cover was still working good.As far as I know it is still functional.

Only drawback to Sno Skinz is that it doesn't cover all the way to bumper although they now make a separate piece to cover that.

Go with the factory cover.

I didn't realize they cost that much. In the past I always went factory. OEM covers, bags. etc. always seem to fit perfectly. No nothing about Skinz covers.
I am fortunate enough to have purchased an enclosed trailer because I hate covers so much. Here in Northern Minnesota there's nothing that sucks more than trying to put a dirty frozen cover on a sled in the dark at 25 below zero with wind blowing 40 MPH.:face-icon-small-fro
I know there was some kind of fabric you can put between the cover and the hood/side panels so the cover would not damage the finish. Maybe someone can chime in here on that.:face-icon-small-hap

I know there are two very different materials the Polaris cover is offered in.

My buddy has a real thin/light one for his (maybe it's the polyester one?).

Mine is nice and heavy duty and pliable and seems to be made of canvas or a similar material? (I'm too lazy to go out to the garage and see what the tags say).
His has developed a couple holes around the seams within 2 seasons already, but mine still looks like brand new.

I love the fit and quality of mine. It goes on easy with good hooks on the straps (and they put these cool little loops on it to tuck the hooks into so they don't snag everywhere) also the straps and velcro on the front for going around the spindles are nice and long+beefy with really good velcro. Unlike many I've had in the past that were a bit too short and had cheesy velcro.

The only think I could wish for with it is that it were water proof... why the hell can't they make these things water-proof for $229???
Nothing like getting where you are going for a ride to uncover your $12k sled and find it dripping in nice mud-water!

I'm going to try dousing mine with about 4 cans of 3M "camp-dry" (silicone spray) and see if that does any good.
Otherwise I'm actually considering getting one of the cheaper, thinner Polaris covers like the one my buddy has and putting it on over the top of my original one for longer/wetter road trips.?.?
His seems to be a bit more water resistant, maybe due to the different material it's made of.

I don't have any experience with the Skinz (SPG) ones, but everything I've ever bought from them has been top-notch, quality stuff.
So I'd definitely at least look into those as an option.

I've got an oem one for my 12 pro

Sadly I can't speak on it's longevity as I only had it up about 10-15 times this winter.

As of right now it's in brand new condition though. Very tough and extra thick in all the right places

Can't go wrong with the Snoskinz cover. Fits really well, very well made and comes with the cover for the front end that goes on prior to the cover. Mine goes all the way to the back bumper.

Cover

I have a Skinz that fits down over the skies and all way down over the boards and over the rear bumper. Works real good but at times can be a little tough to put on and does not have gas door. U can wash in washing machine and so far held up real good.:face-icon-small-coo

Have your dealer throw it in. I always have them throw a cover in on the deal.

Buddy has a Polaris cover. It's a good tough cover that fits very well. He's put a lot of miles on with the cover up on the sled deck and it is fine so far. Can't speak on the aftermarket options, but the OEM cover certainly seems like a solid cover.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I plan on going into the dealer sometime next week so I'll see what I can work out. I'll see if I can get them to throw in the cover, else I'll go with Snoskinz.

I've had a couple Polaris canvas covers and I thought they held up well. I tore one of them (my fault, not a defect) and I was surprised that it didn't tear more in the wind. It held up well. I don't use a cover much as I have an enclosed, but I'll keep using the one I have. I use the IQ/Dragon RMK cover for my Pro and it fits really well.

Another vote for the Skinz cover. My cover has the gas flap on the cover. Mine is however about 4 years old so maybe the new ones are different. You may want to check right now cause they will be blowing them out due to the end of season. I know they are usually up to Jackson which is this weekend and you can make a pretty good deal up there. Good luck.
