Pro brake won't fully disengage?

I could hear it whining as it does when the brake is on and the lever was super tight, I cracked the hose a couple of times to let some fluid out but still having issues...

I will check the resevoir tonight but I think there may be another problem here, pads look nice and rainbow colored from the heat. Anyone else?

Same thing happened to a buddy's machine this weekend. He thinks it might be
a spur on the brake pad but hasn't taken it apart to look at it yet.

Mine seems like it will disengage fine, however when I tried to lock the brake with all my might I couldn't get it to the point to lock, not sure what to do.

Unfortunately, the Pro is equipped with a Hayes brake which do not have a reputation for being a quality product in some circles. Not the least bit surprised to hear of over-filled or other bad-bleed issues. Swing it by the dealer or crack into it. If you're brake is dragging or parking brake impossible to engage, it's probably just too full. You might be able to get it right by letting out a little fluid or you may need to pull the caliper and manually spread the pads a bit to get it to behave.

I haven't seen this issue but I do see my brake indicator light sticking on from time to time. Harmless but irritating.

I am having the same issue.

My brake is dragging when i am riding.
I was going to try to let a little fluid out and see what happens.
Will post when i do it.

Same here, I can hear the pad dragging a bit when riding. I've never had to mess with the brake before. Is there a caliper adjustment that can be made, other than just letting the fluid out?

Mine did this too, quite the opposite of the '09 Assault, thatsled would really whine only when on the brakes, the new PRO made a whining noise only when the brakes where released for about the first thirty miles./

There is a break in procedure for most braking systems, cars, trucks, airplanes, and even sleds. Quite simple really, to seat the pads. Just lightly tap the brakes and hold for a maybe few seconds under low to medium speed, this will help burnish the imperfect surface of the pads to the more, near-perfect surface of the rotor disc. All you are hearing is an imperfection whizzing past another.

No need to bleed etc.

Good advise. I am familiar whith this procedure, however this did not happen for the first 100 miles....

disengages just fine but very difficult to set at time. On the plus side it sounds awesome when you apply the brake and it makes that little buzzing sound. Reminds me of the bov on my turboed dragon when you chop the throttle.

is yours not making the noise anymore? today was the first time i had mine out and after about 15 miles or so it was really noticable

Yes, whizzing went away, after tapping the brakes here and there for a few miles throughout the day.

Setting the brake is indeed tough, IIRC the IQ had two detents, one for setting the brake on the trail, and one for trailering, I about broke my own fingers trying to squeeze into that second detent.....and never got there.

My sled was doing the same thing but it didnt really feel as if it were draggin my 09 assualt had the hayes brake and it never made noise when i was not using the brake

I took everything apart tonight and inspected, cleaned and re-bled. The thing runs really tight to the pads no matter what, when all heats up it gets worse. I would have to say at this point that the entire brake system is kind of a POS. I will figure it out or get it replaced if that is what it takes... The sled itself is sweet!
