pro belt price!

Yes, the Arctic Cat 048 belts "work".

No, the dimensions are not the same from the Arctic Cat 048 belt and the Polaris 115 belt... both in length and side angles.

Yes, I believe that dimensions of a belt play a critical role in the performance of the clutch and how they shift out towards max as well as the backshift feedback/response.

I've had many friends that get a season of HARD turbo use out of a 115 belt.. and with the cost of sledding in general, a spare 115 belt each season is not that big of a deal.

If you are shredding 115 belts, which can withstand an nuclear attack, you have some other problems with your sled and clutches that would be seriously impairing the performance of your sled in the first place!

Wash/scrub your belt every 3 or so rides and keep the clutches blown out and clean... change your springs regularly.
... if you want strong, consistent & reliable performance from your sled.
Sleds are about as close to piece of racing equipment as a consumer can buy with a warranty... they require regular maintenance... much more than your Honda civic or diesel truck... that is a fact of life.

The 3211080 belt is not a bolt on and go belt either as it is a bit narrower and needs the spider re-shimmed for proper clearance (re-shimming requires special tools and experience with shimming)

My 2 cents.

Belts vs Mods

I put anew belt on every year.$180.00. Put new boards on, $450 plus labour. That's 5 years worth the belts. Can't complain about that

nearest polaris dealer to me is 3 hours away. so doesnt make sense for me to pay 100 dollars for fuel when i can do 15 dollars for shipping.

I'm with you. A trip to the closest dealer by me is almost 3 hours and when I can do a better job with maintenance, It doesn't pencil out!!!

I have tryed the Poo 80 belt on the new sleds and they won't hold up, LIke above on kevlar. I went through 4 in about 800 miles, and I like the rest of you getting 1000 to 1200 out of the 115. 4 x 80 =320 for 800 miles, or 150 for 1000 miles. ?

I am going to try the cat belt this yr. I down with that price.

anyone have the 115 and 122 specs handy?
Both belts 1.46" wide, both 26 degree side angle, both 11.5" center to center, both 46.77 outer circumfrence.

Polaris lists the differences as follows
-Standard
*Good trail belt for lower horsepower engines
*Best suited for low speed operation

-CVT (3211080)
*Increased service life over standard belts
*May need 1-2 grams heavier drive clutch weight over Standard belts

-Kevlar (3211122)
*Increased service life over CVT belts by upt to 8 times
*Cut edges belt; consistent like PBO belts
*May need 1-2 grams heavier drive clutch weitht over CVT belts

-PBO (3211115)
*Extreme duty belt; longest service life
*CNC ground edges on each belt
*Longer break in period

The 3211080 belt specs are 1.438 wide, 28 degree side angle, 11.5 center to center, 46.5 outer circumfrence.

As far as the specs... I don't see a chart that rates the center to center distance.

AC rates it a length... Is that Inside, outside or average thru the center?

Polaris rates theirs as c-2-c and outer circumference.

I'd like to see some "apples to apples" numbers on the two belts (048 & 115)

A thicker belt will also have more contact area on the clutches... but the outside diameter may be exaggerated. The I.D. of the belt is what deflection is set by, so...for me... that is the more critical dimension.

Sources I trust say the AC 048 belt is 1" longer than the Polaris 115. But I've not seen any of the information to confirm this other than the outer circumference of the Polaris belt...AC does not indicate what this dimension of 46.81-47.19" (stated variance) dimension relates to...

To me... the critical dimensions for comparison would be.

1) Inside Circumference of the belt
2) Belt side angle
3) Width of the belt.

Does anyone have an official source for these dimensions (1,2 & 3)???

Give the 3211022 belt a shot, I get much better belt life with the 022 than the 115. I've noticed the 115 will tear out a section of cord long before the 022 will. They are also $60.00 cheaper and run very similar RPM's.

10-13K for a new Pro RMK and some of you are worried about a $180 kevlar belt that last normally about 1000 miles.I spend at least $100 on fuel and oil for my truck and sled for one ride.Point is $180 for a belt that lasts is nothing .2 trips out and I have spent more on fuel than one belt.I would never use anything but the recommended 115 belt.

40-55k for a new truck and some of you are worried about $180 kevlar/rubber tires that last normally about 60,000 miles. I spend at least $5000 on fuel and oil for one year ride. Point is $180 for a tire that last is nothing. 2 years later and I have spent more on fuel than eight sets of tires.... Not sure where I'm going with this. Never mind!!! Just kiddding...LOL:boxing:

$300K - $400K on a house and you are worried about $180 on a belt?

It's still $180 on something that wears out. If I can get a deal or find an alternative that works, I'll bite.

Exactly my thoughts. For me it's a spare and it won't get used unless I have to use it. I have spent enough already. For 12k it should come with it.

Polaris just sent out coupons for 10% off on Snowmobile Accessories and 15% off Polaris Apparel. I bought a new Pro last year so I am assuming that's why I received it in the mail. My $.02
