Pro Assault in the POWDER

Just picked up my new pro assault yesterday. I wont be making my first trip to Wyoming until the end of January. Has anyone had the assault with its assault track in the powder? I am wondering if I going to want to switch tracks or just ride the stock track this early in the season. I guess i'm just hoping that I'll have plenty of fun with the stock track.

some people really like that track and others hate it, i had it on my 09 assault but swapped it out for the rmk one. the assault track is perfect on anything hard, but the majority think it chainsaws like crazy in powder. i didn't like it cause of the trenching in deep snow, if you were climbing a chewed up washed out hill the track would shine, if you were making the first track up sugar snow you might hate it.

Looking for anyone that has had the new 155 assault out in the powder with the competition track on it to post some reviews of the track performance. I am still debating whether I should swap out the track or run with the stock option.

I ride in Michigan also and I ride a summit XP, I think the assault track is about ideal for MI. I have a buddy in Idaho that is liking the OE assault track in Pow out there.

i got a 09 assault and last yr i ran it with the stock track out in cooke city. we were there for about a week and the first few days we were there it was pretty firm snow conditions and the track hooked up great. that last 2 days we were there it started dumping and we were getting dumped on so the day before we left we had a good 2+ ft of snow and it still did pretty well in those conditions.

ive never riddin it in bottomless 5ft of pow so i cant say one way or the other. running a 150in CE 2.5 this yr tho! kinda excited.

good luck with an awesome sled!

We had two pro's and one assault out west about a week ago and you can tell the difference in the powder it does trench a little more, but i wouldn't spend the money on a new track if you are only making one or two trips a year out west!!

I rode my 55 with the stock competition hill climb track and ended up putting a 5.1 on. I think the Assault track does real well and the best way I can describe it is that for boondocking and sidehilling through trees etc...it will go anywhere the 5.1 would but you had to keep a bit more momemtum and once it started to trench it went. Working up hill if it has something to hook up with such as a base or what not it did equally as well but as soon as the snow got deep and light, it didn't do well at all. I think Big D said it best, if you're only coming out west a few times a year, it would't make sense unless you had the money laying around.

in 1-2 feet of pow with a base the thing rips, jumped back and forth from my pro to the assault and the assault was hooking up twice as good. was not as smooth a ride but the thing made it seem like it had 30 more hp:) i've never seen it in the deep but my bud had some good seat time last spring with them and said in the deep once they start to dig it sinks...
