Primary weight set screws

After taking my primary apart I noticed that two of the weight set screws are missing. Also how easy should the bolts pivot? They don't seem very free or easy to turn...the only weight with the set screw is stiff to rotate.

Hope this makes sense.

They do have some resistance to pivoting but should not be too stiff. The set screws should be replace and red loctite used. I have always cleaned the bolts (pins) off. They usually have a good supply of red loctite on from the factory and sometimes got into the bushings. I always use loctite on the threads of the bolts and only tighten the nuts until I have the side play out of them. If you tighten until they bottom out, you put too much squish on the o-rings and you can lose one.

By the way what is the best way to remove the set screw in the weight? Heat?

Cat service manual calls for green loctite. Green is s weeping loctite. You can put it on after you put the set screw in and it weeps in to the threads.
