Is anyone running 70 G weights?

In Low elev. 1212 Ft here

Just curious.. i have 68 in now..

Normally it pulls 8250 all the time..

after the cleaned mt valves..

I think i can over rev it now.. and it cuts out.. Like say.. going from hard pack to 2 feet of untracked snow .. and pin it it will lay on its face.. But if i only do 3/4 throttle it pulls 8100 .. and doesn't cut out

???

I am running 68 and a buddys running 70 I run 8350 and he pulls 8100 I do believe 69 is the perfect spot for around here!!!

I run 71g MTXs w/ 2 gram rivet in the belly... SLP blue/pink spring too. Holds right around 8200-8250. I think with this setup the weights equate to 10-69s...

tdblakes,

Are you located in MN or at what elevation? I just picked up a Pro RMK 800 Assault and am also trying to figure out the ebst weights to run but I also know the my track is heavier then the 5.1 series if it even matters?

The service manual says to run 68's here in MN.

Try loading your secondary more with a steeper intial angle helix. I am running a 60/42/.36 with a black/purple spring with 66g weights. I tried first going with heavier weights and what i found is that i suffered in mid and top range snap. Just felt a little sluggish. I then did my sec. clutch changes and it doesn't over-rev anymore and feels great on the throttle response with the lighter weights. I run from 0-3000ft.

This mirrors my experience. I'm running a 60/40 .45 and 11-68's. The 11's are a tad lighter than 10-66's on the top and it's really crisp on acceleration at low to mid. I also don't lose rpm in deeper snow.

70's will bring the rpm down for sure but I'm betting it will start feeling sluggish. The flatland drive spring will also bring the rpm down as its a 120/310 compared to the 140/330 RMK spring. Try it out and let us know.

honestly, i would run the 10-68s. If you find you don't like them then you should mess with it more. These sleds like the 8300 range imo. and yea I'm at sea level ride mostly in MN and UP. If you already have these parts then toss them in but I think you would happy with 10-68s

K guys for a update..

late night i went out again..

Tryed 68 BB With stock can.. only once i had it happend to me..

had the BMP on it last time.. Over revving and cutting out.. almost on every pull or when i could spin the track in the deep

I think if i was to run the BMP can agian. i would be using 69 weights..

Like die hard said try loading the secondary more. Mine and his did the exact same thing. I went to a super stiff spring on the stock helix and it holds great no more over revving. Also went to the 809s belt after EXPLODING a 115. And I've seen die hard poo grenade 2 of them to.

If your exploding 115 belts you have other issues...most likely alignment or a broken motor mount. 115 belts don't just explode like the old RMK 080's did.

Mine blew after riding in really heavy wet snow, working the sled and the belt hard. I need to shim my primary as my side belt clearance is .035". This is still in polaris's specs, but on the outer spec.
I haven't had good luck with the 115 as it would glaze bad after every ride, the second 115 pulled the cord during the first ride and I trimmed the cord and burned it until it exploded on the 4th ride on it. This is with vents, foam pulled, and clutched right. I switched to the XS809 and put well over 200 miles on it with it still looking new.

I check my deflection, alignment, motor mounts, check and clean sheaves after every single ride. I used to have to scrub my 115 belt every time and now don't. 115's seem to work great for most people, but they must hate me cause I blew two in less than 300 miles. I like that the xs 809 have a year warranty and cost about 80 bucks less too. This is just my take on it BTW, I don't want to thread-jack and start any polaris vs. ultimax belts arguments.
