i've never been up that way either, but it would be worth it to climb the pencil chute... whens everyone planning on goin?

Jeremy, I have been talking to some friends of my sister/brother in law (they own a place just before priest lake) :D I will ask when a good time is, we planned on January but that might have to get moved depending on snow level and where you can go. Put your name on the "want to go" list...ok?

Fun going up, scary going down! WTF kinda move is that? Looks like the guy is hangin on for dear life! Great pics!

Yea he was hangin on alright, That was a Poo with a bad steering post, getting tuged down a steeeeeeeep decend. He was mearly supost to hit the kill switch at the top of the ridge, so i would have a lil drag from it , to keep from hittin me from behind.

But................................

He made it down fine too.

Priest is a great place to ride, and if you all come on over just shoot a post in the Spokane Area thread and there will be some guides for ya.

Yeah, got to thinking after I posted that, must have broken something, thought it might of been a jackshaft and he didn't have brakes, trying to slow it down! Now that is dedication! Thanks Nitroskidude

priest lake rmk

a little forest service biologist birdie whispered in my ear, that there is a good chance that the original caribou closure would open up to sleds. ie chimmney rock area. I guess the caribou are not using that area.

that sounds like good news and all, but i sure wouldn't get your hopes up. things change so quickly up there it's ridiculous.

Could someone help me out and tell what what elevation the riding is at, at Preist Lake?

5000-7000ft or so?

Thanks

Now that would be cool! I'm not going to hold my breath though, we all know how hard the greenies hang on to stuff.

Last spring i was able to attend a meeting with the idaho fish and game and the lead biologist from fish and game. There are caribou using the selkirks.
They have the telemtary readings and so forth. They showed us the plot points on the maps and so forth. This was a meeting with the fish and game, the issa and the local club officials. Somehow i got on there list and was asked to attend. So i hate to say it, but there are caribou using the selkirks.
The problem is the caribou like the 4000-5500 foot level in the selkirks and usually are just passing thru, but they are passing thru in mid winter.

We will be back in Idaho next July. Did you have a look at the website?? Someone said they couldn't bring it up?? What the heck!!

I will post some pics when I return home
