Preventative Maintenace on my summit

Preventative Maintenace 06 Summit X 151

I just returned with my new summit X from puyallup. It was pretty dirty from the previous owner so I have been cleaning and polishing it up.

What is the compresion supposed to be?

With 1100 miles, is it a good time to do a top end or maybe just rings?

What are some essential grease points on the sled other than the rear suspension?

I was told that the shocks would need to be rebuilt at 2000, correct?

The track has the band showing and two of the Fiber glass rods showing where its missing 3 whole paddles. Will I break the track at this rate? If so I want to get another stock X track thats ported or should I get an upgraded track.

What else should I watch out for in terms of break down and maintenace?

The engine has mild heads in it so I dont really want to crack the top end unless it needs it.

The exhaust, engine, and clutch all feel very solid when shook around.

I plan to do the chain case oil.

Thanks for the input.

Where to begin? With a dirty sled one can assume the sled wasn't maintained during the season. I'm guilty of this at times too but it would be good to go through everything on the sled. I'm not saying take everything apart but at least look and inspect everything so you know what you're starting with so it won't leave you stranded 10 minutes into your first ride.

I'd get yourself a maintenance manual first. (they're cheap on ebay) In it will describe all the maintenance points and familiarize yourself with the sled.

It has some mild heads on it that apparently came with the SLP power pack setup. I believe it has a clutch kit but I dont know how to tell this. It had quite a bit of beld dust and fuzz in the engine bay and it has a like new belt on it. I think I might put the spare or "used" belt on it for the first ride so I know if it has any problems. It tested at 150 for compression so I was happy with that. How do I check the rad valves? the pipe feels very solid but I will check the bolts for tightness.

When I took my first ride on my 02 800 rmk I had one of the valves fall completely off while I was rippin a trail at 90! It sounded like I blew a hole in the block. Dang near burnt right through the belly pan too.

Keep it coming and I will look for a manual .

Thanks
