Presidential Candidates-2008--Who Supports Us?

No unfortunately. I've got my sled back home in MN loaded on the trailer ready to go to Island Park on the 15th. Other than that the only riding I got this year was about 200 miles of trail stuff around home during the Christmas/New Years break.
The closest stuff is around southern CO. which would be about 10 to 12 hours drive. but more like 15 to the good stuff.
There's a lot of movement going on in the next few months in my dept at work so I'm hoping to get a promotion and relocation to somewhere with some snow or at least back to MN. My current position is considered a developmental position so they want me to move up. I'm not going to argue if I can land somewhere nice, cause the moving package with my company is awesome.$$$$ If I can't move up by next season I might start looking for someone on here that would be willing to rent a little storage space so I could keep my sled out west somewhere and fly in for some weekend riding. I travel like 80% of the time now so I get tons of airline miles, hotel points, and rental car points. So that cuts the costs dramatically for me.
I just now got back to TX from being up in Spokane and Pasco since last Thurs. Holy Crap you got snow up there!!! Couldn't resist taking a drive north of Cour D'Aleane (sp?) it was pretty cool to just see some good white stuff for a change. Also got to take in a Rodney Carrington show while in Pasco. That guy is F-in funny.

yes we do have snow. I have about 3 feet in my yard and my brother has about 4 feet in his yard. It has been a great winter.

On McCain, I was watching the news last night and they showed Rush yaking as usual. Now since it was a clip I could be off, but he was *****ing about McCain and his possible appeal to independents and Liberals. He was upset that he woudl bring Them into Our Party and what that would mean for the future.
Now I'm conservative, not a party memeber either way though.
From talking with many folks one of the main complaints is that government is a two party system(it shouldn't be) and folks hate how politicians will stick so tight to party lines. Hell this is why Ventura was elected in MN(not my fault i was too young).
So I ask Rush, or anyone who can explain, what the hell is so damned bad about getting someone in office(yeah he may be more central then many republicans like) who can, has and is willing to work with folks on stuff no matter their party?
On Hillary, did anyone else catch that her and Bill, "loaned" 5 million to her campaign since they were not keeping up with Obama? What the F is this loan thing? Is she getting the money back?

I was actually pulling for Romney BUT wouldn't mind seeing Huckabee, or Paul get it although it would take a Dean like episode for McCain to loose it at this point and I don't think he's quite crazy enough for that. That being said I will most likely be forced to vote for McCain because the Dems are completely insane.
The only thing I see wrong with McCain and a lot of Rep's (politicians in general) is that they are too concerned with stupid issues like gay marriage, and Stem Cell Research (which they don't understand and have turned into an abortion battle) Both of which I believe McCain is more agreeing with the Left on. Correct me if I'm wrong. Not that I think that Gay Marriage is right but I think it's a small issue in comparison to some of the biggy's like immigration and the war. I also don't like his immigration ideas, but there are few that I agree with on that one and if I remember right Thompson was the one I liked on that.
The Dems are even worse about that and I think they are WAY to occupied with special interests (greenies, gun haters, abortion rights, universal health care) to do anything of real value for our country. They talk a big game about the war, immigration, and the economy but they don't have what it takes to fix anything and always seem to side with extremists to get the votes otherwise they'd have none.
In reality a lot of the Economic issues we face are way more social in nature than governmental at their root. The main issues have to do with people not being smart enough to handle their finances correctly and the Banks giving them too much rope to hang themselves with. People in this country have way too much of an entitlement attitude combined with the I WANT IT NOW mentality that gets them into trouble with credit and fiscal responsibility. The other issue is that my generation and those shortly behind me (I'm 29) grew up with too much handed to them from their parents without having to earn it and when they get out into the real world mommy and daddy have to bail them out repeatedly or they crash and burn. I've seen it many times with those that I went to school with both in HS and College. I know this is a generalized statement and I do not include myself in this group nor do I believe that all of my or the next generation is this way. Believe it or not their is still some good parenting going on in this country, and from what I've seen many of the people on this forum are in that group of good ones. The big problem arises when the Government tries to bail them out by taxing the rest of us to death and giving the idiots and the lazy a bunch or our money which is basically what universal health care is and what the Dems seem to stand for. SOCIALISM. And the kicker is that they get bailed out yet again and don't learn from their mistakes and do it again. The best thing I've seen happen in years is the new bankruptcy laws forcing people to pay their debts instead of skating on them scott free. Maybe some will learn from it and grow up a little.

You are wrong. McCain is a big time pro lifer. His problem is his voting record on environmental, immigration, torture, and campaign finance reform issues.
I'm having a hard time looking past all that, but I must. (Drill in ANWR)
Right. That hasn't changed for as long as I can remember (I'll be 41 next week)
I do not like McCains immigration policy at all.
He is the least bad of any that have a snowballs chance in hell right now though.
As usual, that's pretty much what it boils down to.

WeeTee thanks for the correction. I couldn't remember exactly where he stood on the abortion thing. I am pro life when it comes to abortion for birth control. there are too many issues involved to go into here, but they aren't explaining all the stem cell info correctly. They have twisted it into an abortion issue. Stem Cell research has moved past the aborted fetus and found other viable options for sources of stem cells and they still cannot get funding because of the abortion issue. It's just stupid.

I'm not as up to date on McCains immigration, but if I remember he is more for letting those in the US stay. Might not be morally correct for some, but think about it. Spen millions to try and round them up and get them out(which ain't gonna work, they are still here and still coming back) or spend some money to get them naturalized etc, and get taxes?
On torture, I'm sure it has it's place, but come on the guy may know a thing or two on what all is involved and if it really works. I've heard tell that alot of the WW2 vets who were in intelligence got a whole lot farther with breaking guys by using their heads and being somewhat civil.
Even with all this talk on the president, I still gotta think that who's in the Oval Office isn't as important as who's been in Congress for 20 years and sits on very important committies.

You got that right. All the oval office can do about the stuff they pull (closing our riding areas) is veto it. Which is the one reason we must not have a Dem in there. They are controlling Congress right now and without someone respectable that represents our interests in the oval office we can't stop them.
This is also why we have to look at who we are voting for on the congressional seats and their voting records even more closely than the pres.

- I didn't call for a round-up. Eliminate the incentives that draw illegals here and they will walk back home.
- In my opinion, waterboarding is not torture. McCain thinks it is. One thing is proven. It has worked 3 times in the last few years and saved thousands of lives. I want that option on the table.
- You're exactly right about congress. The last time this country had total democrat control was the during the Carter administration. We all know how that worked out.
The thing thats gona drive me to the voting booth is supream court appointments, fiscal discepline, and the war on islamo-fascit's. McCain will do fine in those areas, and he's seen the light on the boarder issue, I will be voting for conservative representatives also.
Which only serves to drive home the point that half the people that you know are below average.............
Also brings to mind a story I heard a few years ago, about a guy traveling the back country on his bike. He stops at a little country store to get a "pop" and take a break and as he's walking up to the front porch he see's a couple of guys sitting there playing checkers. Both guys are sitting on barrels of pepper. Big barrels. The table they are playing on is a BIG box of pepper, on the walls behind these guys are bags of pepper. Hummm.
Guy goes inside and gets his pop and is looking around. Everywhere he looks there is pepper. Bags, boxes, tins, jars, barrels all full of pepper.
As he's paying the old guy behind the counter for his drink he makes the comment "Man, you sure must sell a lot of pepper around here".
The old guys looks around, kinda' shakes his head and with a sorta confused look on his face replys, "No, not really. But there was a salesman came thru here while back, and THAT guy could sure sell some pepper!".

There is a great amount of interest in this year’s presidential elections, as everybody seems to recognize that our next president has to be a lot better than George Bush. The Democrats are riding high with two groundbreaking candidates — a woman and an African-American — while the conservative Republicans are in a quandary about their party’s nod to a quasi-liberal maverick, John McCain.
Each candidate is carefully pandering to a smorgasbord of special-interest groups, ranging from gay, ******* and transgender people to children of illegal immigrants to working mothers to evangelical Christians.
There is one group no one has recognized, and it is the group that will decide the election: the Angry White Man. The Angry White Man comes from all economic backgrounds, from dirt-poor to filthy rich. He represents all geographic areas in America, from urban sophisticate to rural redneck, deep South to mountain West, left Coast to Eastern Seaboard.
His common traits are that he isn’t looking for anything from anyone — just the promise to be able to make his own way on a level playing field. In many cases, he is an independent businessman and employs several people. He pays more than his share of taxes and works hard.
The victimhood syndrome buzzwords — “disenfranchised,” “marginalized” and “voiceless” — don’t resonate with him. “Press ‘one’ for English” is a curse-word to him. He’s used to picking up the tab, whether it’s the company Christmas party, three sets of braces, three college educations or a beautiful wedding.
He believes the Constitution is to be interpreted literally, not as a “living document” open to the whims and vagaries of a panel of judges who have never worked an honest day in their lives.
The Angry White Man owns firearms, and he’s willing to pick up a gun to defend his home and his country. He is willing to lay down his life to defend the freedom and safety of others, and the thought of killing someone who needs killing really doesn’t bother him.
The Angry White Man is not a metrosexual, a homosexual or a victim. Nobody like him drowned in Hurricane Katrina — he got his people together and got the hell out, then went back in to rescue those too helpless and stupid to help themselves, often as a police officer, a National Guard soldier or a volunteer firefighter.
His last name and religion don’t matter. His background might be Italian, English, Polish, German, Slavic, Irish, or Russian, and he might have Cherokee, Mexican, or Puerto Rican mixed in, but he considers himself a white American.
He’s a man’s man, the kind of guy who likes to play poker, watch football, hunt white-tailed deer, call turkeys, play golf, spend a few bucks at a strip club once in a blue moon, change his own oil and build things. He coaches baseball, soccer and football teams and doesn’t ask for a penny. He’s the kind of guy who can put an addition on his house with a couple of friends, drill an oil well, weld a new bumper for his truck, design a factory and publish books. He can fill a train with 100,000 tons of coal and get it to the power plant on time so that you keep the lights on and never know what it took to flip that light switch.
Women either love him or hate him, but they know he’s a man, not a dishrag. If they’re looking for someone to walk all over, they’ve got the wrong guy. He stands up straight, opens doors for women and says “Yes, sir” and “No, ma’am.”
He might be a Republican and he might be a Democrat; he might be a Libertarian or a Green. He knows that his wife is more emotional than rational, and he guides the family in a rational manner.
He’s not a racist, but he is annoyed and disappointed when people of certain backgrounds exhibit behavior that typifies the worst stereotypes of their race. He’s willing to give everybody a fair chance if they work hard, play by the rules and learn English.
Most important, the Angry White Man is pissed off. When his job site becomes flooded with illegal workers who don’t pay taxes and his wages drop like a stone, he gets righteously angry. When his job gets shipped overseas, and he has to speak to some incomprehensible idiot in India for tech support, he simmers. When Al Sharpton comes on TV, leading some rally for reparations for slavery or some such nonsense, he bites his tongue and he remembers. When a child gets charged with carrying a concealed weapon for mistakenly bringing a penknife to school, he takes note of who the local idiots are in education and law enforcement.
He also votes, and the Angry White Man loathes Hillary Clinton. Her voice reminds him of a shovel scraping a rock. He recoils at the mere sight of her on television. Her very image disgusts him, and he cannot fathom why anyone would want her as their leader. It’s not that she is a woman. It’s that she is who she is. It’s the liberal victim groups she panders to, the “poor me” attitude that she represents, her inability to give a straight answer to an honest question, his tax dollars that she wants to give to people who refuse to do anything for themselves.
There are many millions of Angry White Men. Four million Angry White Men are members of the National Rifle Association, and all of them will vote against Hillary Clinton, just as the great majority of them voted for George Bush.
He hopes that she will be the Democratic nominee for president in 2008, and he will make sure that she gets beaten like a drum.
