Predictions for next season...

With this season winding down, any thoughts on what we may be able to look forward to next year? I know our snowpack here in central Washington this year barely reached half of what it did in season's past.

We know we have a few changes and refinements to look forward to for next years sleds, so does anyone care to hazard a guess as to what the snowpack will look like?

I'll start with an optimistic guess and say that we'll have a good early season, building a solid base by the end of November, followed by massive amounts of dry snow for December, January, and Febuary. The season will hold strong through March and decent in April, and the last ride of the year will be the middle-end of June as opposed to the first week that we have had the last 2 years.

All in all it will be a significant improvement over what we have been given around here this year.

Any others care to give their $.02?:D:D:D

In northern Montana we will again have 4 ft. of snow by mid Jan, and will stay there throughout the season with your occasional 4 inches of fresh pow and the season will end early again :( :brokenheart:

But finally after three chitty years in 2012 we will have great year, pushing new powder almost every ride and will ride into may !

I really hope I am wrong in 2011.

Yeah it was a low year but now is the time we pull out the secret spots to ride. We may be able to drive in farther than ever before and have a little snow to get there on but once there it will be worth it!!!!
It can't be any worse next year.....can it?

now thats the kind of hope and change i would like to see

After a season like this you have to be optimistic for next season, this year really reminded me of El Nino 98-99 although not quite as bad.

We usually average 250 inches per year in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan, and this year we are lucky if we hit 180 inches. This year the problem: November was VERY warm with no snow, we started getting a lot of snow in December, then a big thaw for 1/2 of January, then a little snow here and there through February, then a HUGE melt in March. I dont think there was ever more than 36-40 inches on the ground, and most of the was a rock hard base with little fluff. Riding here was done first week of March, and we really never had good off-trail powder riding this year. There were a couple decent weekends, but nothing like years past. At least in our neck of the woods we usually follow a bad season with a really good season.....Let's just hope Mother Nature gets that message and dumps a lot of Lake Effect Snow.

I know you mountain guys probably laugh at us flatlanders, but we do ride good powder in the Midwest, its all thanks to Lake Effect Snow!

Hoefully there will be enough snow next season that we don't find ourselves converting our sleds!

Hopefully we have a better snow year. This is the worst I have ever seen it in my life.

Ralph, it's a short drive to the snowies for you.
Even shorter to the Madres.
Both places were good both times we were there.

Not good enough. Been to the Snowies twice this year and both times sucked azz. Besides my sled is down so I'm hoping that next year is better. It should be.

We're within a couple feet of our yearly average in the Snowies and it's been a pretty good year. I feel bad for those who have not been getting any good snow. We understand. We are just coming out of one of the worst droughts in 50 years in Wyoming. 7 counties still applied for and got Disaster relief this year. Up until last year there were lakes that didn't have their boat ramps used for 7 or 8 years. Some you still can't.So we are thankful and I hope things pick up soon for everyone. Not to rub it in but tomorrow......I ride the Snowies.
