Power Valve Problem on 07 M1000

I replaced my cables and cleaned the power valves and the sled is still having problems with opening the valves. I had the sled lifted up in the garage and noticed the servo motor is not opening up, or partially opening the valves. The cables and valves work good when I pull them manually. Is the motor toast? I can only pull about 6500 rpm WOT.

sounds like the motor is done. If you have a fuel controller, delete the valves and make your life easier.

Just my opinon on the BDX PV delete's. 08 M1000 with SLP pipe, BDX air box, BD diamond drive lite, Attitude box and BDX PV delete. Went back and forth put the stock Pvs in then BDX. Definatly a difference pulls harder in the mid and top with BDX PV delete. Does seem to burn more fuel but nothing drastic compared to stock although .Maybe a little sputter on the bottom but no bogs at all. I like the sound better and I really don't notice the little sputter on the low. I did have to lean the Attitude box down although.

I just had the same problem two weeks ago. All I did was force the solenoid to move by hand and it freed up. I check it every ride now and it's still working freely and on it's own. I would probably go the same route with the delete myself if your motor is still not cooperating with you after you try that. It is quite the poorly designed system when compared to Polaris or Ski-Doo systems.

Would raising the engagment rpm a little help with the sputter. The stock engages at about 3600rpm. What color of spring would you need to bring it up to about 4000rpm?

The only place I had to take away fuel was on the pilot setting the green light on the attitude box I have it on fast flash 1 which is stock. I think that is what BD recommends is to clutch it above the sputter. I just left the stock spring with SLP recommened MTX weights. Not sure what spring would raise it to 4000 that might be a good try though.

Sounds like the same problem I had on my HCR brand new. Turned out to be the servo motor was toast. The servo should open around 6800 rpm (on an M8) You could/should have a error code coming up (ecu 16 or 17???). 6500 rpm is about max when the sled kicks into limp mode which it will go into if the ecu detects a power valve problem or other problem.

With mine, I was getting a code 16 which says that the cables are failed or out of adjustment. I could shut the sled off, turn the servo by hand, then start the sled again and with the track lifted, rev the throttle up to 7500+ rpm for a few seconds, but then as soon as the ecu detected that the valves were not opening, it would go into limp mode and I would only get 6500 rpm.

It is possible that your servo is ok. You may just have a short causing a low or high voltage problem causing it not to work properly. I think that comes up as an ecu code too but not sure. You can test the servo (so I hear) with a 9 volt or 12 volt battery to see if it cycles. I would do this with the cables off. If the servo works ok, check you hand and thumb warmers and your head and tail lights. I understand that there is a wire under the seat that often causes problems with the tail lights shorting.

The dealer put a new servo in mine and it runs great now. It was under warranty though, I think the servos are pretty pricey.

One other note: did you make sure to put the valves back in the same way up that they came out. It matters.

I replaced the power valves with the bdx delete kit and the sled still runs like crap. Starts up good, idles fine, but no throttle respsonse, can only get about 6500rpm. I'll check for electrical shorts. Could my injectors be toast?

Are you getting any servo motor codes, BDX did have a few bad chips. The one you plug in to fool the computor in place of the servomotor?

You usually have to lean out the mid-range with valve deletes. Mine was the same and the plugs were soaking wet with fuel.

Which is a better way to go? Bdx or the STM? I heard the Bdx kit makes the sled a little boggy.

no comparison...apples and oranges,,,bdx eliminates the power valve...stm still gives you an operating and adjustable power valve minus the servo and cables...go stm

All four coils are cooked

I finally gave up and took it to the dealer. They tested the coils, all four were done. What would cause all four coils to go? Is this normal for a sled with 3000 miles. They cost about $190.00 a piece, ouch!!
