Power issues on a 2008 700 RMK

Finally got some DEEP pow here in WA! Was breaking trail for a bit in full out snow over the hood, knee plus deep light powder with no base :face-icon-small-coo. When I was breaking trail, I was kinda disappointed with the performance of the sled. Felt like it was almost all it had to keep it moving forward at times, and we were just on FS roads, nothing super steep. I've never encountered snow this deep before, but my friend's M8 with a 162 had a lot more throttle left plowing through it.

Are the 700's really that under-powered? or is it the longer track the reason it was easier on his sled? Mines only a 155 track, stock motor/clutching other than an SLP can and 19/42 gears.

The 700's are NOT underpowered (closer to an 800 than 600), I would say it was your clutching that was holding you back.

Hmmm ok, that could be the issue. Just felt like it really drew down on the power when I was running in front. Any particular clutching set up that works really well in the heavy snow out here in the west? I looked at SLP's kit, but it says that it's set up for their pipe kit's extra hp.. Love to put on a new slp pipe for the 5hp but $600 is way too much for the hp gain.

The 700 will outrun the m8 all day if everything is setup right. if you do not know much about clutches send them to slp and have them gone through. they will balance them install new weights and springs and clean them. have the derlin washer installed in the secondary and new spring. Check the exhaust valves make sure they are clean and the bellows do no have a hole in them.

Really? The M8 just seemed to have more power all around..I'll give SLP a call then. I had a new spring put in by a local shop at the beginning of this season, but I'm sure the whole unit could use a going through after 4k miles though... Exhaust valves have about 400 miles on them after rebuilding the motor so i doubt they are the problem.
