i was thinking of powdercoating my case and cylinders while i have it apart "D7" would it hold in to much heat? its just an idea of dressing it up while its apart.

also can i powdercoat my twin pipes i dont like ceramic it seems to rust or comeoff really easy i wash my sled off regularly the last sled i had with ceramic started to rust. also can i run header wrap i have huge underhood temps with the twins

ive heard people say the wrap holds water but your pipes get so hot to me any water that gets on them evaporates

well the headers i put on my dodge dart were $600 ceramic coated headers but are a way better quality than slps pipes is it a different coating or just better qualitiy?

i just orderd 2 rolls of 1in x 50ft of header wrap for $84 includeing clamps and silicone spray

Header wrap won't look bad on the outside, but sure will rot out your pipes nicely. It holds moisture in and oil too. Been there seen a header wrap fire before. Header wrap has its place, but my opinion is the only place it is has is in a style. Namely like my Cafe Racer styled 1977 CB750, that deserves header wrap. Or a bobbed out old school chopper, ha.

Anyway ceramic coating is the same as powder coating is the same as paint. If it isn't prepped right or applied in a good manner it will end badly.

as stated above, powdercoating wont hold up on pipes, if you have a heat shield like on the new m8's or d8's than the high temp powder coating will hold up just fine. but it only stays on the heat shields not on the actually pipe. the new satin black ceramic coating is the best thing out there that i have seen. holds better temps and looks a lot better, only problem is, its new enough that no body really knows if if it will hold up any better than a standard ceramic coating

this is a slp d7 race twin setup theres a huge differnce in power when the pipes are hot, wich sucks sometimes when your in tight areas and walk a lil ways to figure out where you need to go and you come back fire your sled up and it dont have much power when you need due to the pipes being cold i just dont seeing ceramic holding the temps in that much, i got the spray that is suppose to help keep them from getting drenched with water iam not to worried about the pipes i wont be running them for long should have some air being forced in very soon
