I am looking for a new pair of skis for my 04 switchback. I have sidehiller II's right now and everyone says I should upgrade. I know a lot of people run simmons...any suggestions?

Most Under-rated ski?
My vote goes to the SLP Straight Line Tracker. I have run Simmons on at least one of my sleds since 2000, and Powder Pro's on another since 2003 and I like them both. But based on my dealers recommendation (SLT's are all he runs on his sleds) I tried the SLT's on my 08 M1000. They make the sled feel 20 pounds lighter and are the easiest steering ski I have ever tried. The don't dart on the trail, work well boondocking, and even though they aren't as wide as the Simmons or Powder Pro's floatation in the deep powder has not been an issue. If heavy steering on your sled is a issue for you, and your thinking about new skis you might want to try the SLT's.
I also have an '04 Switchback and am looking for new skis. I found a thread from a guy last week that said the following. I asked him about sidehilling and he said they work great for that too.
On my Rev they were very darty on the trail. We checked the ski alingment and it was right on. I never did play around with the suspension set up... I figure with 4 sets of ski's for this sled one of them should work LOL!!!
When I bought my 06 Summit X the previous owner had replaced the stock 6.9 Pilots with a pair of SLT's. I will agree with everything the guy's dealer stated about the SLT's with one exception. On my Rev they were very darty on the trail. We checked the ski alingment and it was right on. I never did play around with the suspension set up, instead last March I put a brand new set of 6.9 Pilots back on the sled. The Pilots behave way better on the trail but steer way heavy compared to the SLT's. I posted on SW to get feed back on the SLT ski's and I did find quite a few people that really liked them. I really liked the ski off trail, it was just a little nerve racking on the trail at anything over 30mph. I just bought a pair of Simmons Gen I that I'm going to try next, and I also have a pair of Slydogs that I will give a try. I figure with 4 sets of ski's for this sled one of them should work LOL!!!
Mine are on a 08 M1000. I have them adjusted to 1/4" toe out, and have not noticed any darting on the trail. I'm not sure what the steering on a Rev is like, but the steering on the M1000's tends to be a little heavy so maybe that makes a difference in the darting.
I have from a couple of different guys that toeing your skis IN instead of out will get rid of darting. I haven't tried it, since I haven't had a darting problem, but it may be worth a shot.
Good info. I may have to try that toe in adjustment if I go back to the SLT ski. I know the dealership that sold me the Pilots didn't think much of my SLT ski's for being on a Summit. I asked the shop foreman about the darting that the sled was doing on the trail and if I could adjust it out with some suspension adjustments. His thoughts were that you may make it a little better, but it was never going to go away. In his opinion the SLT was not the ski you want on a mountian sled. I'm hoping the Simmons or my Slydogs will be the ticket. Once I find one that works I'll have a few sets for sale. Keep an eye on the Swapmeet LOL!!!
