Anybody have any experience with one of these?
http://www.powderjack.com/

I ride a fair bit with just the wife and due to previous injuries and disc degeneration my back ain't what it used to be. I already carry the SnoBunjee and love it but just wondering if anyone has personal experience with this thing. Thanks in advance:beer;

Actually, anyone that had Volkswagons in the 60's had the same functioning jack. There are the exact same jack as used by both of these guys, just not as flashy and a little heavier, but no doubt stronger.

Get a piece of pipe for the jack to go on, a base and jack away.

I will be making a sectional pipe for mine this year so it will be easier to carry.

I just ordered one from them. They are new and improved this year with a much smaller jack mechanism. I will be posting pictures and my thoughts on the jack when it arrives next week.

Stay tuned.

yah , 270 is crazy insane, , you know what kind of jack you can get at sears for 270?

if these were like 80 many more peeps would use and buy them

WOW that is pretty pricey for 4 feet of steel tube and a couple of springs. Just make one. They are easy to make.

LMAO! I'd love to see how many long it would take you to make one that works well from scratch w/o copying off an actual jack.:rolleyes:

im going to look into it , i b et there is an off the shelf optioned designed for another application that is not on crack pricing

Highjacker not the powderjunk jack

I have the true hijacker built by the inventor bill harmon.

The man deserves credit for his hard work and quality product !

I agree with that completely. Bill Has done more for the sport then anyone I know. I have one of the very first Harmon Highjackers bill sold and the quality is second to none. I never leave the truck without it. It has saved my back and my a$$ time after time. Yeah the powder jack may have copied his design but I will bet good money mine will still be working when the powder jack is long gone:beer;

Well my Powderjack came in today. It looks like its going to work just fine. Definitely not as nice of mounting as the highjacker but for the price im not going to complain.

Here are some pictures, it is super light too! I think it weighs 4.5 lbs.

UPDATE: I just lifted the back of my Polaris RZR off the ground with it without any issues at all. If it can lift that it will do a sled no problem.

No money back guarantee but it does have a 3 year warranty on manufacture defects.

No this jack is not the same quality as the highjacker, little things like the bearing rollers, rubber jack handle, fancy plate and a little better mounting bracket are available on the high jacker. You pay for that by paying double for it though. To me those little things are not worth the extra money.

I will report back after using it this winter and let people know how it is standing up. If its junk I will be the first to admit it so stay tuned!

be careful using one on a steep hill. watched a guy get ran over by his own sled jacking up the back on a hill and it rolled right back over him:) i'll stick to my shovel...

Run Over

They do take some getting used too, but I wouldn't trade my Jack for a shovel again, I do have a shovel also since the jack dont dig out a buddy buried in a slide for crap. As far as the Highjacker costing more Im pretty sure after using your powder jack for about a year the big savings will become more apparent......Bill will take his back and repair or replace it if ANYTHING at all is wrong or a guy just decides it aint worth the cash.....Bet the powderjack dude would just tell you " Sucks to be you " and laugh all the way to the bank. Suppose I might just still be a touch bitter that the guy didnt have any real brains to come up with something on his own so he made a cheap knockoff and claimed it as his own......ok im done griping:D

Ok. Not trying to be critical..... but.... REALLY!?

I thought that's why sleds have grab handles on the back...

When I get stuck (which I do, a LOT, with an F7 in Idaho Pow), I just squat the sled out of the hole. Or have one of my buddies help me.

Welcome to why I workout..... it's like doing a deadlift in the gym.

I can deadlift 405lbs 8x's. Welcome to why I emphasize deads, and squats in the gym.

Save yourself the dollars, and just be in shape people!

:D

It's amazing what a summer of working out will do for your riding season... these sleds are freakin heavy, so lifting weights will only make them feel lighter!

I have always poked fun at this kind of stuff, even the snobungees.....but as I get older and have now been through 2 back surgeries, I hate to say it but I will be carrying a snobungee and I can see the day coming that I will need to carry one of these jacks :eek:. I can still lift a sled if I have to....BUT, lifting will likely shorten the years I will be able to ride actively....so my choice will be to use things that will extend my riding years. :beer;

Just Squat it out of the hole? I must admit I am impressed. I consider myself a fairly strong guy but the holes im usually stuck in are at least half my hight deep and I cant lift the weight of my sled packed with snow that high. Thats the main reason I use my jack. Buddies are great help also but not much good if you get seperatated for a bit and are by yourself, plus it has saved my back a lot of soreness that I prefer not to have:face-icon-small-hap. I dont use my jack EVERY time I get stuck but its a lot faster and saves me a bunch of energy I can use too ride longer......The only squating I tend to do when im riding is getting rid of the lunch I just ate:D To each his own I guess:D
