Powder Claw 09 vs 10?

Was looking at the powderclaw at the Echo Cycle booth at the snow show this weekend in Edmonton. Was asking the guy working there about the track not grabbing well while coming downhill in set up snow conditions. And then he proceeded to show me an 09 pc and a 10 pc. The 10 pc is a stiffer track, guessing camoplast/cat is doing this to try and resolve the "tobogganing" effect people seem to be experiencing. I'm planning on selling my 08 Dragon just to get something with lower miles. And was looking at a couple 09 m8's, but I am hesitant if it's gonna mess with my spring riding. Might just have to find an 09 Dragon if thats the case. Cause goin up is the easy part, and comin down a guy needs all the control he can get!

camoplast makes two tracks in the power claw 153 80 duro which is on the 09 and 2010 std and sno pro m the other track is a 90 duro which comes std on 09 and 2010 hcr i have run both tracks and the 90 duro is a lot stiffer and hooks up like bear

Had a 09 last year and the track worked good going down hills. A lot better than the challenger track that was stock for 08. I have a 2010 PC this year I will let you know the difference when it snows!:D

it's a simple concept really, the track scoops snow when coming down and will pack full. this makes it slide!

solution? don't lock up the brake!!!

seriously! brake happy retards are the people reporting poor braking.

don't spaz on the brake and you'll be fine!

brake happy retards:) now thats funny!!!

What's the "big" deal with tobogganing?

Any track will fill with snow and slide going down a steep hill. Just get used to going down a little faster. Don't keep the track locked up. Pump the brake and empty the snow out every few seconds.
I sure wouldn't want a stiffer durrameter just for that. The softer one will take you much higher in good snow. It's a blast!

I hardly brake at all, engine brake, just blip the throttle to keep the clutch engaged then just tap the brakes when needed.

DING-DING-DING!

We have a winner!!!

And to add to this pro decent technique, lean from side to side. Rocking the sled just a bit will help dig the side of the track in and clear the track out better/quicker.

Haha....brake happy retards....thanks for the reply's fella's. On all the sleds I've owned and rode out west, it seems that most have a sweet spot to rev at to slow your ascent when comin down hill. My 06 summit would just about throw you over the bars at the right rpm haha. Just wanted to get some info on this so called issue. I have no experience with this track, and was curious if this was an actual problem, or just a couple guys who don't know what their doin. And now I'm gettin stoked to get back on a cat!

In addition to these great reply's; another good tip is to lock up the track, hit the reverse button and nail the throttle, cleans out the track and helps slow you down NICELY:face-icon-small-hap

btw, in regards to the idea that the stiffer track would help the problem (not a problem imo, but...)of braking, the 90 duro we have is much worse than the two 80 duros we have, no comparison.

On another note, I wouldn't trust a thing Echo Cycle says or give them a dime of my money, just FYI. They've screwed more than a couple sledders.
