Hey all,

Well I'm looking at moving out to Boulder or the surrounding area within the next six months. I used to live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and I miss the area so much just not enough work and cost of living in Super high. I have a few questions about Boulder.

What is the Average cost of living out there? I have looked and it seems high.

I'm in the HVAC/R field. How is that business out there, and good companies that you guys may know of to look into?

Also how are the people? Alot of drug addicts? (I'm clean lol)

The town itself as there alot to do?

How about riding areas summer and winter? Sleds, dirt bikes, quads, etc...

Any other recommendations or things I should know about the area.

Also I'm 20 years of age, I know the University of Colorado at Boulder is there so good college life.

Thanks,
Eric

Why Boulder? It is expensive and is a big college town. A lot of people call it the "Republic of Boulder" because of it's mostly liberal poplulation. Lot's of hippies and college students. I don't think the drug issues are worse than any other place beyond marijuana, there is more than plenty of that there.

There are a couple of nice areas close to Boulder. Look into Broomfield, Layfette, Golden, Louisville and even Westminster (West Denver).

Lots of places to ride, but if you travel I-70 west into the mountains it can be tough because of the traffic.

Boulder is overpriced and full of liberal, tree-huggin hippies. I'd NEVER live there. Like bugito said, there are better places to live that are close to Boulder. Its not like Jackson Hole though, its more metro and more crowded.....and it has all the annoying CU college idiots/drug addicts. I'd check into Lafayette, Broomfield, Golden, Arvada, or Louisville. Longmont might not be so bad either, but it is a jaunt from the "city life" if thats what you're looking for. Not sure about the career advice though.

If you don't own a Prius, Micro-Bus, or Subaru, you won't be welcome in Boulder. Just the 'thought' of owning a sled would get you picketed by a heard of trust-fund leaf-lickers. Pick ANY other place to live and you'll be happier...maybe Loveland area.

dont go to boulder man .look into golden or arvada my brother is in hvac there,in the unon also dont know if thats good or bad but if you want i could ask him,abt job openings, those idiots in boulder condemn our air pollutin sleds,i bet they are tryin to come up with an electric hybrid sled as we speak.lol

Some of the things people have written above seem like a stretch, BUT THEY'RE NOT!!! Boulder is a weird town. I lateralled as a police officer to Boulder and made it 3 months before I got onto Denver PD. Out of respect for the good coppers that work there I won't say any more, well except that I don't know how they do it! If you are not a liberal, don't move to Boulder. It's a shame that a town that is so beautiful is so ruined!!!

Boulder = Turd

The next best thing to living in Boulder would be a rectal exam. I think you would be better off to formulate a plan "B" no matter what that may be.

Wow.

I figured there'd be ONE voice for boulder (ok, I'm not sure why...) but another vote for the same. Boulder sucks. Of course, imo any place with a population over 100,000 sucks big donkey balls, but I'm not really opinionated.:face-icon-small-win

There are towns nearby that don't suck, (Lyons is a decent mix imo)

If I was to be anywhere near there I'd look up near rolinsville, nederland (just as liberal, but they don't give a crap about you there) or other areas in the mountains.

I was born and raised in Boulder and now live in Fort Collins...
Boulder as a town and location is awesome...BUT 95% of the people there can go **** themselves. Bunch of whiny *** liberal Cali types that thinks their **** don't stink. The people pay no attention to anything...you can see that if you drive through town. It is also much more expensive than the close surrounding areas.

I love driving through town with the sleds up on the deck though. :D

Abby (my wife) was driving through Boulder today... at a stop light she texted me 3 words.

I'M IN HELL

kinda says it all.

Boulder is where the term citiot comes from & it sure fits.

BWA HA HA! Not one good word about that Turd Wrangler infested pool of festering Obama lovin liberal anal infections. It used to be that you always had one guy that said "Boulder isn't that bad" but oh, how have times changed!

Boulder

If you are a homicidal maniac or a suicide bomber I'd suggest moving there, if not i'd steer clear.

Funny, my politics is closer to boulder's than yours probably... but I'd sure as HELL rather be in Kremmtucky with you than down with those freaks!!!!!! (ok, maybe it's not THAT left... but in comparison...:face-icon-small-win)
