Positive Polaris Axys Review

Most people only take the time to post a thread when there is something wrong with their nice, new shiny toy...so I figured I would take the time to write a positive review on this site:)

Got out this last weekend in some very, very deep snow here in CO. I have a 2016 800 Axys with the 155" 2.6" track...around 25 hours on the sled and somewhere around 150ish miles. Engine all stock except for a HPS can. Running Polaris 10-58 weights in the primary and all other clutching is stock.

I have to say that overall I am super impressed with the power that this new engine is putting to the track...have switched back and forth with 2013-2015 Pro's and the power is sure noticeable!

The main thing I noticed in very, very deep bottomless powder this weekend was the "lift" that the sled creates when you hit the throttle. I didn't really notice this in the past several rides and I think it was because the snow just wasn't deep/fluffy enough to have a respect for how the sled pops up on top of the snow. It's truly crazy how fast the sled wants to pop up on top of the snow with the front end and the track just seems to bite good, even in 2-3 feet of blower powder!

Other thing I'd like to mention is the overall deep snow performance. We were literally submarines this past weekend and even with snow entirely covering the intake vents/dash/headlights the sled ran extremely well! Had a few instances of "powder bog" but a quick blip of the throttle had the sled cleared up and back turning 8,300rpm in no time. I was super impressed at where the sled would go carrying probably 100lbs of snow on its hood:)

So, just wanted everyone to know that I had a very positive first experience in "over the hood" powder on my new Axys:face-icon-small-hap I love the sled so far!!

What elevation are you running to have that weight in the primary?
I have 10-64 weights
I'm at 6000-8000 and only pulling 8050-8100 rpm
Glad your loving the Axys, they are pretty awesome

I too run around 11k feet most of the time...maybe see close to 12k down at Wolf Creek and maybe see as little as 10.5k up at the Ears...but the sled seems to scream around 11k with the 10-58's in it.

I know recommendation is 10-60's from Polaris for 10k-12k, but my buddy runs the 60's and his sled is lazy and will only pull around 8,000-8,100rpm which is not enough for my liking!

I run 64 gram weights too and only get 8050-8150 RPM. I tried 62's and lost a lot of track speed. I will try a few more helixes to try to get the best of both worlds.

I had a few variations with MDS and stock.. stock 64s I see 30 MPH in revy (5000-7000ft) and with the MDS I was seeing around 31 MPH. I have no idea how these guys are pulling 37 MPH..

I know you have the 2.6 163" Chris but what do you see in Revy?

I'm very happy with my 16 Axys RMK 155. Mine is stock with an HPS can as well. I just finished a weekend at the Snowy's. We found spots where there was over 4 feet of powder, snow was going over my handlebars! My sled only has about 6 hours on it, but it still ran great, still seems very oil rich. I couldn't believe what I could climb out of even when the intakes were clogged with snow. My last sled was a 08 rmk 700, what a huge improvement!

One problem we have seen and gone away from is the stock Polaris weights-
We seem to find that there is just to much weight at the tip of the weight and why some peeps are going lighter to get the desired 8300+ where this quick rev motor likes to spin..( I posted back in November the rpm we see the motor likes)

Just what we have noticed here in my shop testing 9,000' and up- and just an observation to share.

I'm at the same elevation (10K +) and I ran 60's stock and still needed more. I know have the SLP Pipe/Can and have the MTX 65's but also ran the Polaris 64's and ran great. I'm surprised you are running so low on weight.

Positive experience with new AXYS SKS

I too have nothing but good to say about new SKS AXYS 545 miles on up here in da up just received 2- ft of fresh powder going to go track it up. ?

I just don't understand how some sleds can run 10-60's and the owners say it tachs out good while others run 10-58's and get the desired 8,300rpm...it's just odd to me:face-icon-small-dis:face-icon-small-dis

Whatever weights you are running to get your desired rpm...the sled sure does rip when you get the targeted rpm's:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-coo:face-icon-small-sho

I personally love the snappiness of my sled with the 10-58's in versus the other 2016 Axys with the 10-60's...just seems so much more peppy if ya know what I mean:)

I loved the Pro RMK, so it was a tough pill to swallow that the Axys could be "that" much better. However, I really like the raised chassis. The factory drop and roll isn't talked about as much on here. It really helps with clearance and lift, we did this for years on our mod sleds, now its stock from the factory! Its lighter at 408 and Im way under 400 now with simple bolt on pipe, can, head, battery & battery box. It took me thousands of $ to get me here with past sleds! New rails "stock" (stronger, 3 lbs lighter), new lower gearing "stock"!, HO motor "stock", lite weight race crank "stock" for quicker revs, easier throttle pull, better track "stock"(2.6" is the best on the market right now IMO), new rear suspension and shock valving "stock" (again saving me thousands in aftermarket), better exhaust valves and more all "stock". I can't ride like Burandt, or Curtis but I appreciate the fact that the factory is "trying" to put out a best in class sled out of the box. It means a lot to me that I don't have to shell out tons more money to make the sled work the way is should. I think the manufactures are doing a better job of listening to the consumer and that goes for all brands. Im even happy the other brands are doing well, because competition is good for us as well. Good job Polaris, nice sled! Now my only complaint is the small footwell on the new running boards. B&M came up with a fix, pay them now for their R&D and make the change for everyone on the next year sled. This sled is so good, I think Ill be keeping it for years, which is weird for me lol.

I'm at somewhere around 23 hours on this sled and 475 miles. This thing absolutely RIPS, and once you get out of the mindset that you don't have to hop side to side and just ride it in neutral position using throttle/countersteer for 90% of maneuvers, it's a blast. However, I know of one person who bought one and is back on his pro now. Claimed it transferred too fast and lifted the skis too much? I don't see that as a problem I told him to play with the suspension and just ride it and get used to not having to work as hard as a pro but I'm not one to judge...
