porting

If done correctly there is a lot of power left in these cylinders. Head mods work really good too.

I had mine ported by slp and if you run a good aftermarket pipe like the speedwerx single than yes it is worth it but if you are going to keep the stock pipe than no. Of course that is just my opinion.

how much did you take out? I'm hoping to get the bikeman pipe mod and prolly a set of reeds but looking for more of a trail port to get a little more out of her. What kind of head mods we talking? Never ported a sled before but helped do a bike and did some minor removal on the truck.

don't do it unless you have a pro do it these sleds can loose power just as fast as gaining it if you don't know what you are doing.

cant really afford a pro job at the moment and have all the tools to do it myself just looking for some science to it

I don't want to insult anyone's capabilities or mechanical intelligence but, porting is a craft that should not be initiated by a basic mechanic.

Knowledge, understanding of two=stroke flow characteristics, proper tools and patience is the key.

I;ve ported cylinders with great success but, I did it from purchased templates not just carving away aluminum with a die grinder. There is more to it.......

Here is a clicky to get some knowledge in porting maybe a little 101 then on to 201 and more.

This is a great site also:

I'll see if I can find who and where the templates came from......(it was a few years ago)

Have a great time. When done properly, it sure feels good to feel the improvements YOU DID to your sled when up on the mountain!
