ported track versus tunnel clearance

yeah, porting on the track has nothing to do with tunnel clearance...or are you thinking air pressure inside the tunnel?

track posting is a little over rated - but all my sleds have ported tracks

tunnel track clearance is like adding a new 2.5 lug track....its gonna feel liek youn added a solid 20HP

i think he is asking that if the porting will help give the snow somewhere to go with a tight clearance, it helps a little but isnt a really big deal, no to much snow is in their iether, or not enough to jamb it all way tight and cause any trouble.

It really won't do much for clearing extra snow out up top to improve the clearance. Ice just builds up until it goes 'clunk' and drops down, just like a non-ported track.

I raised the same question a while back. I went to a Camo Extreme on my sled and I had less than 1/8" clearance at the front of the tunnel. Maybe it was the added paddle height or the stiff non ported new track but, the sled would not pull RPM until I ported the track. Maybe it provided a place for tunnel air pressure to go or maybe it the was porting making the track easier to turn but, I could sure feel a difference after porting the track.

Good Luck
