Political Zone RIP

:face-icon-small-tonThey have all gone either to look for Bin Laden, to try and teach Dick Cheney to smile, or on a pilgrimage to worship Rush.:face-icon-small-dis

Mr. Christopher, as long as you are going to edit my posts, you might just as well ban me right along with the rest. I had an extra long subscription to the mag but give it to some one who cares. I have had it with all of you. It used to be a great place and I really enjoyed it but no more.

The old Political Zone is DEAD!

Not Just the Political zone. Remember when you had to go into fould plug fully into the second page to find a day old last reply??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before,
but had recently failed an entire class.

That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".
All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that.

Remember, there is a mid-term election in 2010!
This teacher is truly a genius!
"you cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

why don't you post your stand point then? that way I can prove it wrong for you.... :face-icon-small-ton ha ha

I think it's been well established long ago that everyone is wrong in your eyes ruffy. It's dead here in comparison to what it was just a year ago. Kind of hard to argue that but we can if you really want to. :face-icon-small-ton

Unless.....maybe you want my political view on current crap going on. OK, how about I think Obama and Bolden are way off base with their decision to try and cancel the Constellation program. One heck of a big fight coming up and it will be from both the Dems and Republicans to put a stop to his proposed budget. Bolden, after hearing what he's said to little kids about giving their dreams of being astronauts, is a complete waste. But then again, who put him in his spot?

Healthcare? Dead horse IMO

sure why not? NASA is an interesting program. We have gained many technologies from NASA. Honestly though what is the point of NASA? Does man kind really benefit directly from being on the moon? Or mars for that matter?

I LOVE the R&D that they do, and it benefits us tremendously, but I would like to see the funding hose being sprayed on energy myself. There is a lot to be gained with doing a lot of R&D in the energy sector.

I heard some interesting quotes from the NASA meeting the other day.
Vision without resources is a hallucination..
and another one
Resources without vision is a waste of time and money
Interesting conundrum.

You wouldn't be directly impacted by the reduction in NASA spending would you? cough cough

Come on....really?????

Does mankind really benefit directly from being on the moon? Or mars for that matter?
How much has mankind benefited from the Space program so far?

Dump money like they have on the wind turbines in Minnesota? The ones that freeze up in the winter and need heaters? Money well spent there!

Yes...I am directly affected because I have been working on the ARES rocket for a few years now. I might be a little biased but I would like to think that even if I was still in automotive design engineering, I'd still feel the same way about throwing away the Space Program and handing it all over the Russians and Chinese

Yeah...Bolden is a real piece of work. Telling everyone that they all have been living a hallucination. Blatantly telling kids to give their dreams of being astronauts. IMO he's onboard with the White House and will say what they want him to say. It's still just a proposed budget and they are already mishandling approved funds for FY2010.

Global warming / Climate shift / Al Gore’s money maker is getting debunked weekly.

Healthcare reform is just a screwed up as ever.

Sanctions on Iran?!?!

Jobs, Jobs, jobs. What happened to all the shovel ready jobs from the first cash dump? Nobody can even agree on how many jobs were supposedly saved from that let alone confirm new ones. Dems are bowing out and leaving parting words like "Hopefully I can create at least one job before my term is up. That will be one more than the current administration has!"

Key words were directly. I am not talking about all the other ancillary benefits due to the R&D work and over coming the technological challenges associated with going to space. Aside from all that, what has going to space accomplish? I guess technology to launch satellites?

Sounds like a perfect place to do some R&D to solve a problem to me. I am not saying spend the money on energy products. I am saying spend the money on R&D for energy products. IMO, there is a greater need for advanced energy then for advanced space flight.
I'd still feel the same way about throwing away the Space Program and handing it all over the Russians and Chinese
maybe, but if we solved our own energy problems, would we be able to laugh at them all the way to the bank. Solve our energy needs first, then space afterwords. I am not saying space isn't important, just not as important as our energy needs are.
Yeah...Bolden is a real piece of work. Telling everyone that they all have been living a hallucination.
Isn't his point that he just needs the funding? It sounds to me like he is saying results won't happen unless the money is there to fund it.

We having fun yet?

Global warming / Climate shift / Al Gore’s money maker is getting debunked weekly.
true, but that really doesn't have much to do about our energy needs and it's security. Specifically oil. We need to stop importing so much oil. It kills our trade balance, ie lots of money exporting the country, and it makes us dependent upon other countries. We mitigate that issue and I think the US would be in much better shape for the long run.

Whenever I fire up my computer, I open 3 tabs, dootalk, snowest, and facebook. But snowest has become so boring lately, I don't know what to do. I've met a lot of great people through this site, and found riding buddies basically everywhere I go using it. But now, it's just not like that anymore. I also used to spend hours reading through political threads on here, I loved them. But now they clean them all up beyond boring...oh well. I suppose my differential equations grade will improve, I have nothing to do but pay attention now....

one word

TANG

but yes we should be working on energy, etc.

So why aren't WE working on Energy then? Why should that even impact the National Aeronautics and Space Administration? It doesn't add up! BO wants similar goals for Space exploration but want to commercialize it without having even an outline for safety standards. This is such a specialized field that if they cut Joe Schmo lose... there will be many accidents and possible fatalities that will absolutely crush our countries Space Program.

Space X was suborbital twice. Then the test pilot walked away to be with his family! That's only 60-70 miles up and they came close to killing him!

The same technology used to propel rockets into space is also the same used for our national defense. They almost go hand and hand. Kill off the space program and watch the domino effect take out many of the key suppliers that also support our national defense as well as advanced munitions.

Tang... was wondering when someone would finally cough that one up :clock:
