Polarisiq widetrack 4stroke vs 600 cfi

hi,

i was wondering what is preffered a 4stroke or 600 cfi iq widetrack.

Was wondering on buying one!

I need a sled for work use, touring, and towing sleds.

I often drive on steep hills and in powder.

Buy the 600 version. There will be times when you need that 40 or so additional horsepower. This is a big beast, you'll need the lighter weight as well. A buddy has 2k on his with no issues.

Definatly go with the 600. My bud has one and he seems very impressed with it. but uno what, the new brp expedition 600 e-tec is the best gonna get for all scenarios. Around here those are the favored sleds.

thank`s for the responses, there are not many reviews about these sleds.

And it is strange that no one has compered 2 stroke vs 4-stroke in a work sled...

the wheigt difference is a issue, in powder wheigt is everything and the 4-strokes are more complex(more crap can go wrong)

labrador states that the Expedition Ski Doo is the fan favorite where he lives, with a few friends of mine the Expedition also is favored. This is mainly due to Polaro's use of slip-spline connections between the jack/drive shafts and chaincase which fail. The chain driven transmission on the Polaris also doesn't compare to the gear driven transmission on the Ski Doo. Lots of cool wt's out there from all manufactures, make sure you check them all out.

I'd go for the Etech from Doo, better fuel economy for a workhorse...

If you go with doo, You're better off buying a skandic. Telescoping front suspension is so much superior in deep snow on these 20inch track sleds.

Hi, the slip-spline you're talking doesn't fail if you grease it in your maintenance routine(while greasing the suspension). you need a needle adaptor to your grease gun. The transmission sure doesn't compare but last longer than the doo transmission. here in Québec doo transmission last about 5000 km, on a polaris the transmission can last 10000 miles . mine has more than 10000miles and i only changed the bearing last years in a preventive maintenance. the 600 engine on the polaris is very reliable. i can't tell about the IQ widetrak in deep snow because i didn't try it. So i wouldn't remove the polaris on the list for the reason you wrote.i don't want to discredit you, i'm just telling my own experience and what i see here.

I hope this help in youre choice.

Thanks labrador. I own neither, just hear reasons why one is favored over the other. My buddy has had no issues with his 600 iq wt. Rebuilt an older wt chaincase once, sure glad they went to the PER system.

If you are truly working it it will not be much different. Pulling a load or running fast they all are very similar in fuel consumption. Puttering along at 1/3 throttle the etec will do better no doubt but how much is the question? If fuel economy is the real concern a 4 stroke is a better choice.

I have had great experience with the Doo work sleds, put 3500+ miles on a 550 SWT pulling some good loads (over 2000 pounds). Doos are IMO by far the best work sleds on the market. If you are working it pulling 1500lbs +)get the skandic WT or SWT, if you want a work & play sled the expedition or IQ would be a great choice and either will be a better ride than the scandic.
