Polaris testing in Wyoming

I don't doubt it. Polaris used to test the cross overs inu home town in small town Manitoba Canada every year until they got all pissed up one night and one drove over the curb in front of the cops and got an impaired

He got fired and they never came back here to test

I've also seen some "things" with the belt drive on the 136 switchback

It's coming

Polaris people went to the local dealer looking for motor parts for a motor that has not yet been released?

More like they walked into the dealer with a box in there hands with a engine or parts to one I'm assuming, needin parts maybe they use some of the same parts(bearings clips who knows) probably the sled they towed back the day before, they where doing some testing and I'm pretty sure it was engine related, not sure why you guys are thinkin t motion? Honestly there is not a problem side hilling this sled, and don't see why they would be testing it on a short track trail sled ethier? In a few months we will soon find out .....

Chassis means nothing to me in the pic.

Looks like an Engine Test mule to me with a full-console Engineering computer...reflash tweaking IMO.

The Experimental tag is a dead give away.

Good to see the people in Roseau at it... The PRO-RMK is on the top of the pile now... but it's easy to slip off or get passed by..

If they can fix those things that are giving issues to the owners.
Make the drive shaft stub a bit longer in the shaft and ride the job shop that assembled them like a rented mule this year.

Keep working, Its a good sled... but can always be better... and more reliable for the owners.

In fact... I can't remember a pre-release pic posted by a reader in a public environment that was pulled on here. And not in the Polaris section for sure.

There were some of the XP Doo pre release that were shot on private land that were taken illegally and leaked... and some images that were stolen from the photographer... those are different situations.

If the sled companies are doing testing in public areas... nothing wrong with posting pics on here of what you see... Just like in MotorTrend etc.. If they are out there in the pubic... POST EM UP!!!

Cool. There was a pre-release pic of the new 05 RMK in anniversary blue, taken by an early camera phone by a vendor in a Poo shop (not considered a public place, I'm sure) that made it's way to this site, and others, briefly, back in 04. Those disappeared right quick, too. Poo was none to happy with the vendor.

Yeah, when Polaris was out at Togwotee all of their sleds had a skin cover on them so all you could see is track, mudflap, handler bars, seat, a-arms and skis. Everything else was under raps.

Don't get me wrong it wasn't like the area was locked up with guns and security guards but talking with the bar manager they highly recommended not getting too clever with pictures and snooping around.

I was just glad to see that Polaris took product development and releasing new products serious. "You know actually riding and testing things prior to selling." Rather than doing the old "virtual" stress analysis where they hook a bunch of junk up to it and cycle it around suspension simulators.

Nothing replaces actual seat time and hitting stumps/rocks in the field and seeing how things crumble under real world apps.

In an age where technology takes over our lifes, sometimes it good to see companies getting back to the real "nuts and bolts". Field testing and the most important is CONSUMER FEEDBACK ON THEIR PRODUCTS. Which I think Polaris is doing a great job with on the PRO models. Minus the whole jackshaft thing but I own a 2012 so thats irrelevant to me, lol.

Its also good to see Polaris is testing things in various conditions and elevations. Rather than just testing at low elevation.

Does anyone know if they have an R&D shop in the mountains? Would save a lot of fuel cost, lol

I was in the Snowies years ago, and the polaris folks were parked on a road on the west slope. Looked like the same trailer/truck combo....identical gray/tan 1 ton flat bed D-max/featherlite combo. I am sure they have probably replaced the truck by now, but same color, rack ect. We actually stoped to see if we could get a peek inside, but got told to move on, not to mention we were all on doo's....lol

With the big fuel tank on the back, they are set up to run all night to ??? with out stoping. Leave Medina or Roseau, run all night to ? Test for the day, then run Back. I bet they can make the whole trip to the snowies and back in 24hrs +/-. Stress on the motor they can test here in MN, 10-13,000' , not so much. I am willing to bet also that where ever they are parked, had really good cell/4G reception.

I wonder, with there partnership with Burandt, that they wouldn't be camped out at his "private 10,000 acers" testing. Food for thought....ever wonder how Chris can afford to "have access" 10,000 "private" acers. I realize he has a few pennies to rub together, and does quite well for himself, but that kind of "access" does not come cheap.....just say'n.:noidea:

I second the motion that that sled pictured is just a Motor test mule. Bet you would have got tackled, had you tried to open the side panel. Now that would be a story to tell....:face-icon-small-sho

Carlos,

Are you by any chance going to Togwotee or Alpine the end of the week?

Just curious.

So this past week I was riding up in horse creek an ran into these guys in the parking lot, didn't talk to them or really check out there sleds but truck did have Minnesota plates and the sleds had full blown computers mounted in the handle bars. Pictures arnt the best but all I could get off the gopro... Also earlier that morning we saw them in the local dealership wanting engine parts and something was said like "o yea the cylinders are different so it won't wok" ? So if anyone knows what they test using these computer chime in who knows new engine or maybe just nox an environmental testing..

Your such a rookie. That same rig is there every year. LMAO. Polaris action reporter cjfox on the spot.

I WISH! .......but no, I will not be in either location. I will be in Nothern MN, or the UP this weekend and next. Have not decided where yet. Have not been to the MTNS in 4 years now. I had to give up something, as OBAMMMA's econiminc recovery is....well what it is......

if they caught pictures of the machines on the internet forums, bad news happens to that person who posted.

Maybe in China but you can't get in trouble for posting a picture you took as long as it is not offensive in nature or slander against Polaris. Post 'em!

Great job noggin.... Must be a rook since I've never ran into them....maybe you can enlighten us on what they where up to since your obviously not a rookie, and have seen them so many times you might know them by first name and called you for a snow report hahaha

Also they left the trailer every night didn't ride around the clock as asked earlier

Burandt moved from their private 10,000 acre spot and bought a tour buisness in bouna vista, CO (pretty sure that's spelled wrong). They do TONS of data logging for Polaris and my guess is testing of prototypes as well. I was told (hearsay, not right from the horses mouth) that the private aceage was someone's private hunting/herding land that he leased in the winters, but regardless, they have moved shop which could be why we didn't see this truck last year and do this year...

FYI any and all Polaris product R&D peeps lurking on this board, feel free to contact me. I am more than willing to quit my day job, and help be part of this Black OPS team that is doing the testing. I have been to the Medina Facility, and know how to keep my mouth shut.....:cheer2:

and if one guy isn't enough, I would be willing to complete testing also.

I'll even work for parts, fuel and polaris clothing, lol

sign says....

"out of work mech engineer........will work for polaris parts"
