Polaris Stepped Up!

when i first started reading this i thought it was gonna turn out with a happy ending like they dropped off some 700's for us. not i only had to pay 100$ for more faulty equipment

Life is not worth be pissed all the time. If you don't like Polaris ride another, they all have their problems.

Its no different that Toyota with there break and gas issues. Its a mechanical machine and they to have limits.

Enjoy it while you can later in life we'll be *****ing cuz we can't remember where we left out teeth the night before!

Don't get me wrong. If I were you I would applaud my dealer too, you will probably need their help again before too long. As for Polaris...no slack there from me. It simply is not true that they all have problems like this. They all may be flawed but burning down engines on a regualr basis with no for solid fix in sight is ludicrous.

Just keep in mind, you will reap what you sow. Cutting Polaris slack for screwing up, and continuing to buy seriously flawed machines, does nothing but enable them to continue down that path. It is a simple matter of demading better for your money. If you choose not to, you get what you deserve.

I guess I am cutting Polaris Slack. They more-a-less took care of me this time. It cost me a $100 yes, but if $100 breaks you in this sport you better get out now!

If it happens again, not saying it will or won't there is always a chance, and they don't take care of me. Then I will get pissed and move on to a new sled, until then, I am happy.

My guess is the one's we hear about are the guys having issues. How many more out there have been running great.

Again even the almighty Toyota is in a world of hurt right now! Its a machine machines break, be glad there is a warranty!

reading these posts on the D8's is a huge reason why I did not buy one and built a sled out of the racer with parts I had. Yeah it's not FI, it's not pretty, it's not under warranty and I am chasing an RPM problem, but I built it and if it does not run the only person I can get mad at is me and I have no expectation of Polaris taking care of it if it breaks so no complaining about it to whole bunch of people...

We all know every manufacturer has problems, ski-doo, Cat, Yammi, Polaris and we have to keep in mind that we are taking a chance when buying a new sled that it will have problems at any stage of it's life. If we expect there to be a problem, then maybe we won't be so pissed when it actually does and hope it is under warranty.

It is cool that Polaris stepped up to the plate in this case...My point is we all need to change our expectations about the sleds today becasue it is a slight chance that we might get one and have no issues, and there are a lot of people who have gotten great sleds, then there are a lot of people who have had a ton of issues. WE CAN'T EXPECT TO NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS no matter what size the problem might be, no matter the manufacturer. BUT if it's under warrenty the entire problem needs to be addressed, covered financially 100% and corrected...over and over and over. :face-icon-small-hapmy .02

2100 miles on mine and has not missed a beat. Boston Racer = An ***

Nice, you have been on here a month and thats the best first post you could come up with? Whos alter are you? :ranger::fencing:

I am glad you have 2100 miles, that ought to make the other 51% of the guys happy who's 11k sled is nothing but problems.

Thats got to be it :crazy:So Skibreeze must ride like a sissy and it has nothing to do with faulty polaris parts :boink:

Have to agree BR. I have never seen SB off the trail or out of the saddle. I think a 340 TX would be fine for him........

IMO Polaris has huge problems with Bare Wires, Voltage Regulators, Electronic Engine Control Units, WE Shocks, Too Lean of Fuel Maps, and Engine Melt Downs. I think that sums it up mostly?

It is nice to get some help with a out of warranty adjustment for a $50 deductible. It should also be appreciated because Polaris could of said no. It is better then having to spend $600 or more! It is amazing that Polaris still helps after voiding warranties for after market mods that are not even related to the elctrical systems or ECU failures.

Obviously Polaris has known all of these problems have existed for years and the inconvience for all of the owners loss of riding time, down time, and repair time is inexcusable for spending $10,000 for a sled.

Polaris has handled all of these issues very poorly since they have tried to deny some of the issues with how the sled needs to be rode and saying there have been very few failures or they were just isolated incidents.

We all feel taken to the cleaners and some of us have been hung out to dry like skibreeze has! But there are the others like 440 dart that have been over zealous in rubbing our noses in the POO. There is nothing like pounding more insecurities into people who are all ready concerned!

For those off us who have not had problems we have been lucky and the day may come sooner or later? But if you let these issues take your fun and passion out of riding you have all ready lost!

I know it is hard to be positive with all of these issues but we are all here on the SW 4M to share information and to help each other. Not to work everyone up so they are too upset, scared and pissed off then to actually
go out and ride.

For me as I have said before the glass has to be half full and not half empty all of the time! I would rather get a few days of good riding then not go at all!I have both wrecked & blown up many sleds in my time and I do not regret riding because it was still fun. Usually no one was hurt or killed but yes it costed some dough! Then there was that rash from the girl at the motel in island Park but thats another story for another 4m, JK.

Well said. I am probably gonna buy a new D8 this week and get rid of my 07 Ski-Doo Summit X which hasnt let me go more than 2 rides at a time without a problem. Then again, my sled does have 6,000 miles on it:face-icon-small-con

Either way, i'm hoping that with all the updates done and a 5 year extended warranty i am going to get that i will have less problems with the D8 than the out of pocket cash i have to shell out every week to fix my POC Doo.

Evan

Well I'll post if my sled blows up but you guys can sit here and tell me how wrong I am, but until it happens I'm gonna be enjoying my dragon so have fun chatting about your pos sleds

Oh and If you want to talk about a reliable sled try an 01 with 10,000 it will walk all over you ... So you know

I agree with the comment that only the people with problems are speaking out. There are lots of riders out there on the 8's that aren't having any problems. It is very unfortunate that some people are having bad luck with theirs, and in no way am I saying that it isn't a problem that polaris needs to professionally address. However, people need to understand that there are always going to be problems, and some people are going to have worse luck with their sleds than others. If you have a model that is known to have problems, consider taking extra care in maintaining your sled to make sure you are giving it the best possible chance of survival. And as for all the people who are complaining about how ***tty polaris is, either get over it, or shut up and buy a different brand and see how happy you are.

Kind of hard to "get over it" when you buy a $10K sled that you can only sell for $6K a year later. That's why most of us bought 09's....thinking Polaris finally had their crap together after all the 08 issues.

Mine went down again last weekend. 3rd time now in less than a year. I keep perfect maintenance on my sled and work on it after every ride. I also ride the hell out of it like I should be able to. Still keeps failing on me when my edge 800 with over twice the miles has never had a problem in 6 years. These new 800's are pretty pathetic. If people don't complain then Polaris will never get these things right.

I do agree with you CO 2.0. It is pretty pathetic that Polaris is having these problems (especially year after year), and I do agree that there needs to be be a certain amount of complaining in order for polaris to get the point. I guess my main frustration is with all of these people that turn every thread into a "bash on how stupid polaris is." There is nothing wrong with expressing some opinions on problems with a sled, we just need to remember to keep everything within reason.
