Polaris Pro Mods

I was on SLP's site and to do the stage 4 kit it will cost around $2,500 after all said and done. I was curious about just doing a head and slp pipe set with programer. Im curious how much clutching will need to be done after than or if I could just add two grams of wieght and be good to go. Or would i need to change out springs and what not? also on the stage 4 kit that envolves porting. curious how much the porting would benifit? Doing just heads, programer and pipe set would cost around $1,500 would it be worth the extra $1000 for porting and springs?

I rode the slp 4 kit and it rips. Has a ton of bottom end pull, and still runs better up top. I would do it to my sled if I didnt buy a turbo'd sled. The SLP stuff works great!

A little?

Isn't a boondocker kit about 5 thousand bucks? Or 5600 with the ebc? Sometimes I wish I had a ton of cash to see if the extra for a turbo is really "worth it" for my riding style. I have ridden a couple different turbos on a Polaris, Cat, and Yamaha, and even the best tuned, best running, still had a "lag". Not a big fan of that. I would like enough stank to be able to push harder than stock, but I don't need my skis in the air all the time. I guess one nice thing about the SLP kit is that you can kind of work your way into the stage 4 kit. A turbo is all or nothing. Even 2500 is a spicy meatball. I just wish it would snow...

i agree. turbo's are cool but decidedly not for everyone. to more answer your question i think i would just go with the pipe and the head, oh wait that is what i did!:) if your clutching is good and you are happy with it now, then the pipe will need about 2 more grams in the clutch. i going to try PA heads this year so i'm not sure if i will need more weight or not. i'm more expecting to see some improvement on the bottom to mid range. we will see when it finally snows. i'm not convinced the gains in porting are worth the money. it's not like it was "back in the day" on the old big block polaris motors when you could really notice porting. there are obviously places for improvement but i believe you start running out of metal before you can go as far as you would like.

I hear that as well on these new monoblocks.

But still, a class A porter can get these machines to about 175Hp on a single pipe with head, porting (case + cyls), reeds and the right values in a fuel programmer.

Should stand out all the more in this light sled.

Didn't mean to get you all wound up. Just was asking a question. Get the stage 4 and let us know how it is

You missed the boat, silbers kit were going for 3600... i was thinking of going with the slp setup, butt for a little more just went turbo.

i was thinking of the stage 3 0r 4 kit. Boost just is not an option for me. I will admit i am not a good enough wrench to own a boosted sled. Boost is not good unless you are very comfortable wrenching.

I was going to wait and see how the reviews come in on the slp stage kits. Typically slp has a very solid product.
