Polaris Lawsuit, need help.

Along with many other 800 riders, mine recently self destructed. I'm not going to let Polaris get away with this. I need to obtain as many names and information for everyone having engine failures. If you have the time please include;

Name
Sled Model
Miles (how many it lasted after recall)
Cause of problem
Anything else you want to include can only help.

Thanks

Yeah, there we go.....that's the way to make Polaris fix the problem...let's break their bank and give it all to the lawyers....

Vote with your dollars, and buy something else. If you really want to send the message, then recommend to everyone you know that they buy a different sled. When their bottom line gets thin, they'll learn for the future. Lawsuits do nothing but get lawyers rich. We have enough rich lawyers in this country/world.

My $0.02.

that makes sense, with the exception the lawyers a good friend and doing everything for free. I'm trying to get my sled fixed, not take all polaris's money.

I feel for every guy that loses their sled. The bad part about the problem is that with a new style chasis (PRO) the emphasis is gone from the IQ and will become a memory for Polaris, I can't see Polaris ever trying to help the consumer. Better off looking at a different sled or try to fix it with some dollars. When I bought mine, I accepted the fact something may happen down the road. Knock on wood, that something doesn't happen.:face-icon-small-dis

Don't forget the modifications you did, gotta be honest in court you know. Even if you pulled the exhaust pipe/can, pcv, boondocker box, etc off before bringing it to the dealer. :rain:

Good luck dude...

I accepted that same fact....something, at some point in time, was bound to happen. However, I hoped to at least make it through the first season. I got a little over 200 miles and 6 weeks of ownership before the mag side piston scored after det sensor and limp mode ensued...

NOT a big fan of unreliability.....

if that was the case for my situation i would have no problem buying a piston or even both and a jug. but i lost everything. when the piston skirt broke, it took a huge chunk of the jug off, and when the crank came around it pushed the pieces through the block. so everythings bad. tell me you guys wouldnt expect something from polaris on a machine with less than 1500 miles total.

sled

If it has not been modified polaris has been very easy with to get these fixed up?? also put in a new fuel filter, new map and the gizmo and let it warm up to 100 everytime!!!!

Please send Polaris donations so they can afford to repair my sled.

2008 dragon 800 2200 miles. 700 miles after new update skirt broke and damaged engine cases. 1 piston is good. 3-4K to fix on a sled worth 6 grand. I have 12 grand into this sled and it is now worth nothing unless I fork out 4K dollars. I don't think so.
I have had two good winters on this sled, and it broke on the last day of warranty and Polaris is rejecting the claim. Not to mentions it will sit there most of the winter while I argue with Polaris and is an unusable investment. If I or they put a new motor in it, can I ride it? Will it break in another 700 miles?
I am considering signing and sending the title to Polaris and telling them where to put it. They obviously need the donation, when they can't afford to repair their obvious manafacturing defects.

m8 huh, thats an arctic cat. you must be lost on the forums because this is a polaris problem. if your worried about a scam by giving me your name you have lots of other problems to worry about.

Mattgzb, Hey I feel for you and your right these sleds should of held together better then they have but a class action lawsuit wont help anyone get much except at best the $500 to $1000 off of buying a new sled from Polaris and the Lawyers some big income.

If you hire a Attorney to take your case it will cost you more then buying multiple new sleds on the low side if you were lucky. You may want to consider small claims court since it wont cost you much and you dont have much to lose then except the filing fee.

You will want to file suit against the selling dealer and Polaris both and this may get you the quickest results but it still takes multiple months. Good luck and I wish you well. If you decide to fix your sled there are some other options that may be worth while here on the forum for you to consider.

So what is the case you bringing against Polaris, it doesn't matter how many poeples names you get pm'd to you. Are you claiming that polaris caused your motor to blow? Good Luck...... Let me know how it turns out? Sounds like you bought a used sled without warranty?? Is that Polaris's fault too???
Not trying to pile on, as I own an 09 800 as well.

Sue the piss out of them! PII is going to net $120 million when they report FY 2010 in early March. They just raised their stock dividend and their stock is nearing an all time high. Their loving this, they can barely keep OEM cylinders and pistons in stock, their dealers are racking up 1000's of hours of shop time, and the new sleds are selling out.... don't expect too much help from anybody but a judge.

Honestly i do not see why people are still buying polaris 800s there have been so many problems since they first made them yet there are still buyers . I know some people have lots of money to throw at them to get them to run but not every one. good luck with your lawsuit.

IMO this is what is wrong with America. We need to own up to our decisions and not blame someone else. (please don't take this personally I am generally speaking) I own a 800 that has also previous gone down. It was my decision to buy a Polaris and I took the risk in this companies product. Nobody forced me to buy this sled. It was my decision and was a gamble. The same gamble you take when you "invest" in any company and expect a certain "return". It was ultimately my decision to buy a Polaris, good or bad. I guess I look at it a little different. It was my decision to by the product and my responsibility to understand what I was getting including doing my homework on my " investment". By the way I think "investment" and "snowmobile" are an oxy-moron. Never heard of a sled bringing you a positive return, unless you value "fun" which I suppose I do! So, in that case I have had good returns! There is never a guarantee in this business, or any other business that I know. We kind of have a guarantee for a few years at least.....warranty. My point, too many lawsuits. Imo

I didn't see anything in the Polaris marketing material that stated the engines would burn down repeatedly, the VR's would fail, the mag side crank seals would leak, and the ECU's would need a re-flash every couple months. And even if you did buy their warranty, there's a good chance they wouldn't honor it and if they did, the replacement parts would be on back order for most of the riding season.

And I bought a 2009 Assault (very cheap) knowing these problems. I like the chassis and it will take well to the M1 Arctic Cat engine I'm going to put in it. Then I'll have something none of you will, a marginally reliable Polaris snowmobile.

To be fair, I need to respond to this quote. My sled did break on the last day of warranty and while depreciation loss of use are issues, after 3 weeks of dealing with Polaris, they have finally approved the warranty claim. I owe my dealer alot for this, Polaris and Polaris Star both declined to repair it originally, and I am thankful it didn't break a week later.
